Looking for ? Henry that left Va. with Daniel Clegg around 1880-. I
was informed that they went to Charlestown, WVA and Daniel made metal
barrel bands. He owned property in Charlestown. I am going to visit
Charlestown shortly to check the records there. Daniel Clegg was my
Great Grandfather. No one has any information of happened to him after
he left his wife (Ellen Tharpe) and 3 children, Alice, Garfield, and
Samuel. Except that, he did Live in the Charlestown area and had more
children with Ms. ?
Henry. Thanks,
Patricia Clegg Moser
I am looking for information about John Clegg, and his ancestry, born
about 1791, Manchester, England.
Father: John. Mother: Unknown.
John Clegg (jnr) was convicted of larceny at the Lancashire Assizes 23
March 1816, and was transported to NSW, Australia, arriving in Aust 24
April 1817, on the "Shipley".
John (snr) was also convicted of larceny, and transported in NSW on the
"Ocean" 10 Nov 1817. Another source has John (snr) arriving on the "Sir
William Bensley" in 1817.
I already have information on John (jnr) in NSW, but nothing on his
family from England.
Please advise if you have any information on this family.
Regards
David Beddie, Sydney, NSW, Aus.

Can't Find the Daniel Clegg that had a business in Charlestown, West
Virginia in the 1850s. Do you know if the tax records can be viewed by
ancestors?

Dear Ms Clegg,
I am trying to trace my father's grandmother. Her name was Margaret Clegg and she was born, according to the family bible, in Derryrollen parish, Fermanagh County on the 7th August, 1836. She was the youngest daughter of James & Martha Clegg. She was married in Brisbane, Moreton Bay, in the colony of NSW on the 5th September 1856, by a Wesleyan Minister to Robert Aland.
I plan to visit Ireland in September this year, and hope to go to the village when she was born. I have been corresponding with a county official in Fermanagh, and this is what I have achieved to date:
"I think the area you are referring to is 'Derryvullan' which is what is known here as a townland thus it would not be shown on the maps that you may have. But the townland is near a village called 'Lisbellaw' which is about 5 miles from Enniskillen."
Have you found out any more about the Cleggs who came to Australia?
Your sincerely,
Sally Vickery.

I wondered if maybe we could have been related?
Yours sincerely,
