Hi!
I'm looking for anyone who might have Adella Cleveland in there family
tree. I don't have much of anything on her but here's what I do know. She
was born in New York on 7 Sept 1851.
I'm hoping someone out there has run across her in a census listing. She
may be listed as Della.
Thanks!

Hi, folks --
I'm Tim Pierce, one of the senior system administrators at
RootsWeb.
Our main list server, lists.rootsweb.com, has been down since this
morning. Brian Leverich is presently hard at work installing a
new disk and preparing to reinstall the operating system. Once
that's done, Karen Isaacson and I will reinstall the mailing list
software and run some tests to make sure that everything is
operating smoothly.
As long as the system is not working, we're also going to try to
take advantage of this down time by preparing a new, faster server
for that machine, which is woefully underpowered for the amount of
mail that passes through it. Brian will begin building that
server while Karen and I get the old one back on the air.
We expect to have the server running again by midnight (U.S. East
Coast time) and hope to have the backlogged mail cleared out by
Sunday morning. Thankfully, we don't believe that any mail has
been lost (only delayed), and all of the archives appear to be
intact.
Thanks to everyone for your patience. And thanks *especially* to
all of the RootsWeb Sponsors, Donors and Patrons, whose
much-needed funds make it possible for us to have extra hardware
on hand for just such an emergency!

Hey Terri, It looks like you got 9 out of 10. :-)

Dear Teri,
I, for one, am not in the least offended by your use of Scripture references.
There are several others that I know of who do it (I think they're on other
lists, but can't remember which ones). I see nothing wrong with it. Sort of
like someone complaining if they sneeze, and someone says "God bless you".
If some don't want to read it, then they can simply skip over it, and go on
to read their next letter.
I may be a bit biased, because your references, as well as several personal
letters to me when my husband died (just over a year ago now) helped me
tremendously. But I really think that most people don't mind you doing that.
I think a lot of people realize that we need a bit more of the spiritual side
in our lives, and I think that your verses are very helpful.
And if someone feels that they're not helpful, or desirable...well, they can
just skip right over them, and no harm done.
And that's my .02 worth!
Best wishes,
Barbara
Teri,
The way I see it, this is your list, so whatever you choose to put in your
Sig file is entirely up to you! If the person complaining doesnt want to
read it, they should either unsub from the list or not scroll all the way to
the bottom of the incoming messages. Some people just like to complain,
no??

I have no problem with your sig file. If I were offended by, it I could
always use the ol' delete key or leave the list.
Thanks

Hi to All,
I am still looking for information on proof of parents of William Riley
Cleveland, born1795
either in Massachusetts or Rhode Island. He married Lydia Shaw, born about
1797, possibly New York. William's mother's first name was Sylvia according
to his death record. I would like to confirm his descendancy from Moses
Cleveland. I was always told growing up that my Clevelands were connected
somehow to President Grover Cleveland. I have already Checked the Cleveland
Genealogy and my line is not there, though there is another William Riley
Cleveland who was born in1839, Penn.
If anyone can help, I would apprecitate it.

Terri, I would say: if there is anything a person doesn't like , all
they have to do is hit the DELETE key and they don't even see it. Was it
the "greenapples" they didn't like ? They probably like red apples. Oh
well, such is life.
Hang in there,

Being someone who doesn't share the same beliefs, I don't see why you
can't have whatever you want in your sig. They're being overly sensitive.
Dear List,
I have an off topic question for you. I have recently been "attacked"
for the use of the Scripture references used in our signature. I was
told that these are offensive and have no place on a genealogy list.
I would like some honest comments from you on this. If you are
not of the same beliefs do you feel forced or threatened by these
verse reference?
I realize that this is one person, and I tried to calmly explain my
position, but the answer to that was something about "that is what
you people say".
Thanks for your patience on this

Things are getting a little better on the lists, and I suppose that
with school starting and less vacationers, it will continue to
improve, but we are still getting a quantity of bounced messages.
Please make sure that you unsubscribe, if possible before

Thank you so much, these lists have really been great!
We will be heading home this evening so it will be a couple of days
before I can get back online. :-( I have to leave our new grandson!
