It sounds like you may be one of my cousins and may have unearthed some missing links that I had been so far been unable to uncover! My grandfather is Hugh Joseph Cleary (born 1896) son of Thomas Hugh Cleary of Kingston Ontario. My grandfather's uncle John married Alice Guiry on September 27, 1893. I believe my great grandfather Thomas Hugh married Mary Harriet and they had six children: Hugh Joseph, Marie, Leo, James, Thomas Phelan, Charles and Gwennie. Thomas Hugh also worked on the railroads and in fact lost a leg in a railroad related accident. My grandfather Hugh and his brother James moved to the US and joined the army to fight in WW I. They both stayed in Pennsylvania, married and had families there, my grandfather lived in Pittsbugh and raised his family there. He first got a job with Duquense Light Co., then Bell Telephone. It sounds like our great grandfather's were brothers. I have done research in fits and bursts over the years so your information is a treasure t!
rove! My desire is to find out how exactly we are related to the famous Archbishop James Vincent Cleary of Kingston. My grandfather referred to him as his cousin. Pictures of him show a definite family resemblance. He and his family are from Dungarvan, Waterford county Ireland. If I were to venture a guess, perhaps Owen Cleary was an uncle to Archbishop James Vincent Cleary. His parents were Thomas Cleary, died July 27, 1871 aged 78 years, married to Margaret O'Brien who died December 15, 1858, aged 58 years. They had Bishop James Vincent Cleary, Reverend Patrick Cleary, Matthew Cleary, Michael Cleary, and John Cleary. We visited their graves at St. Mary's Parish in Dungarvan. There are dedication s to his family in the Church and stained glass windows that he (Bishop James Vincent) had commissioned. The family seemed to fare well, owning and operating ships, and had such occupations as Draper and Haberdasher, Nail maker, shopkeeper and Hatter. I hope you will receive this !
posting and reply! Sincerely, Gretchen

My Father's Aunt Katie married William Bremser of your line.
I don't have definitive information on Thomas' and Mary's parent. I've been looking for a number of years but haven't made the connection.
I'm back looking now and maybe with some luck I'll make the connection.
With regard to the McDermott line Thomas' wife's name was Catherine and I have a document which has the last name but it is very unclear and I believe that the first three letters are cal...? And then I cannot clearly read the remaining letters to make out the name. It almost looks like Callanan or Callahan. i'm just unsure. Does this help with your search?
Lately I've been spending most of my time editing the duplicate entries and bad information from adding documents automatically.
Please let me know if the information on Catherine helps.
Michael McDermott
