My heart is pounding again, this is like a treasure hunt! You have a
Life Magazine with an article about my family??? Are they available on line, I wonder? I would love to know the date of the issue so I can get a copy somehow.
If Maurice was ill he could have married her so she could take care of him, she apparently did the same for my grandfather. I have one picture of her and its in their house in NY,...which is possibly now YOUR house?
Are you able to scan the magazine, (if you even know where it is)? I can send you the photo. My email is mare.macd(a)gmail.com. I do have some more background we can share.

Apparently she knew Maurice for a long time, and he wasn't interested in getting married. He had some heart trouble, and retired from the NYC police force on disability. Once he was retired, I guess he figured what the hell. They got married and moved to Barrytown, NY, in Dutchess County. She died in the late '70's, I believe. He died in the early '80's. He sold me his house after Kathleen died, and I've been here ever since. I know she had family that was in politics. I really don't know what else I can tell you. I don't have anything that belonged to her, except for a 1940 Life magazine which I think has an article about the Scranton Scanlons.

OMG, it's so great to hear from you! My heart is pounding. You have no idea how much time I've spent hunting down what happened to my great aunt Kathleen. My mother will be so happy to hear that I've found something. Or at least it sounds like I have. Can you tell me anything you know about them? All I know is that she lived in Scranton, where all of my family still lives, until her father died, she cared for him and he left the house to her when she was in her 40's. She apparently went to NYC and moved in with her brother Anthony Scanlon. My mother recalls her marrying a man named Maurice Cleary and they moved to Montgomery (?) County in NY and that's where the story ends. Please help me fill in the blanks!!!

I had a great uncle named Maurice Cleary who married late in life to Kathleen Scanlon from Scranton. He was a nyc cop. I don't know what she did. I now live in his house in upstate NY.
