JOHN CLEARY
FEBRUARY 21, 1896
The remains of John Cleary, who died in Chicago on Monday, arrived here on the evening train on Tuesday and were taken to the home of his brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Owen Murtaugh, in the southwest part of town. The funeral was held on Wednesday morning from the SS. Peter and Paul's church and the remains laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery.
Deceased was formerly a resident of this vicinity, having resided many years ago with Mr. and Mrs. Murtaugh when they lived north of here, and also having worked in Charlotte township about fifteen years.

Hi Janice, we were in touch a while ago regarding the Cleary's I am WilliamCleary/CatherineLarkins gggrandaughter. My ggrandfather was Edward Cleary and I was trying to find info on McMennamin (his wife Emma's maiden name). Have recently found info that she was a stepdaughter of George & Martha Huston in Philadelphia and was wondering if you found any additional info on her. Also, I have found many McCarron's with Cleary's on various census lists and also noted McCarron's are listed as God parents on christening records for children of William & Catherine Larkins Cleary. Any additional info on that? Thanks again. Regards, Marianne

Hi,
I,m afraid I'm stuck in Nova Scotia at this point; it is possible William immigrated from Ireland to New York before moving to Canada, but I haven't been able to confirm this as yet.
Cleary appears a popular name with immigrants from Ireland/UK, to US & Canada, at that time.
The trail for that time period is scattered, lots of leads but none that I can confirm at this point.
No idea of other siblings from NS or where William came from?
Not much help I'm afraid, we will just have to keep digging.

Hi, I am interested in knowing from where your Clearys originate. Mine are from Carlow and Laois but I cannot not trace them before early 1842. My Owen/Eugene Cleary was born in 1803. I would appreciate your help.
