I will have to look in my records which are not readily available to find out what I have on Richard Cleary, which is not much. I know that the O'Connors came from Mullingar, Westmeath.
As I recall Richard had a nephew also Richard Cleary that lived with them for a while but I cannot remember any other relatives he had.
Barbara

Hello,
It has been a number of years since we corresponded re: Clearys. I think that your John Cleary was the brother of my Denis Cleary(b. abt. 1858 in Cork, IIRE). He had sons NAMED Thomas Augustine Cleary and James Cleary, plus others.
Thomas Augustine Cleary named one of his twin sons Daniel EUGENE and the other Thomas Frances Cleary.
The birth years, John 1855 and Denis 1858 and a third brother, Thomas F. 1859, would make sense. Hopefully you have discovered some info since 2000 as I have and we can share. Email me.

Hello,
It is possible that Richard Cleary and my Denis Cleary were brothers especially since their birthdates(abt. 1858) are so close and they both named sons Thomas. My Thomas Augustine Cleary (son of Denis Cleary and Anne Mullane) was born in 1887 in County Cork, IRE. He married Honora Bresnahan whose mother was Julia O'Connor. Honora and Thomas A. named one of their twin sons Thomas Frances Cleary.
Julia O'Connors father was, I think, John O'Connor and her mother , Elizabeth O'Brien. They were from Co., Kerry, IRE.
I know she had a sister named Mary and a brother named Daniel O'Connor.
Thomas Augustine Cleary(son of Denis) had the following siblings:
Christopher, Edward, James, Cornelius(Conny), and Esther (Julia).
Would you be so kind as to email me your information and I will compare it with other notes I have and maybe we can get this line of Clearys and O'Connors confirmed. thank you for your response, I had about given up hope on feedback from my original message.

Hi Casemist: I know your post was 7 years ago, but were your people Richard Cleary and Anne O'Connor? They had about 10 children, but none survived past age 30. One son, Thomas F. Cleary, was a physician (c. 1859-1886). I'm sure Richard had brothers and sisters. If you have any info, please reply. I'd be happy to share too. Thank you. Susan.

Yes, this is our family. In fact, I have the secretary that belonged to Thomas F Cleary, the physician. When Thomas died, Richard and Anne took my grandfather, Thomas Kerwin, out of St. John's orphanage. Anne Cleary gave the secretary to my mother, Anne Kerwin, Thomas Kerwin's oldest child.
I am really interested in learning when and from where Thomas Kerwin came in Ireland. I have some information on the O'Connors Anne, Bridget (Starkey) and Mary (Kerwin) but nothing on Thomas Kerwin. He died at 39 and I cannot find any relatives.
