I think you may be one of my missing links! My Grandfather John Vincent Cleary (b1905, d1969)was on of the decendents of the Cleary Family that left Waterford @ 1824 during the first famine. His Grandfather was 1 of 7 brothers, John, James, Mathew, Henry, Leo, William and Edward & 2 sisters Teresa and Mary. The 9 of them born in Ansonia Ct.(I think). I don't know their fathers first name. While in CT John Cleary (my great great grandfather) worked for the Ansonia Clock co., when they moved to Brooklyn he relocated with them. Could Your William be the same as mine.

Hi, My late mother was Mary Florence Cleary, born in Bromley by Bow 1911, she was a daughter of Arthur James Cleary, born 1880 or 1882 and Louisa Jones born 1882. Grandad's father, Patrick, was apparently Irish born, was noted as 'deceased' on the wedding certificate and was a stevedore. That is all I know. If any one can help me find out more about my grandfather's family, please let me know
Many thanks
Christine

Nenagh Roots Book
An excellent Nenagh Genealogy book was published last year and can be viewed at
www.exploringfamilyorigins.com
It was reviewed in the 'Irish Roots' magazine and the 'Family Tree' magazine,
The great thing is that the book contains;
The complete 1901 and 1911 census for Nenagh
The 1850 Griffiths Valuation with a corresponding 1850 town map.
An entire Electors Register from the 1930's/1940's for Nenagh.
Old photographs of Nenagh,
The price is relatively cheap and can be bought on the credit card facility
or by sending a cheque in the post. Also on ebay website.
Well worth it!
Tom

I have Clearys on my father's side and Floods on my mother's side.
I just today learned the maiden name for Mary Cleary, who married Patrick Roach, both born & married in Ireland but I have no dates. I don't know if they came to the US or not. Their son David (abt 1870) came over in 1890 to NY and another son, Patrick J. (abt 1873-78) came in 1901. They settled in Jersey City, NJ.
My Mary Flood, abt 1845 Ireland, is supposed to come from a Matthew Flood ancestor. She came to the US sometime before 1866 and married Charles Poole in New Jersey about 1866. It's believed she had family in Red Bank, Monmouth, and Matthew was a recurring family name. She & Matthew Poole settled in Atlantic Twp., Monmouth county. There is an internet tree at this url:
http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/v/o/j/Nora-F-Vojt/index.html
I thought once I worked my way back to my original immigrant ancestors, I'd be satisfied. Not so. Please contact me privately if you'd like to compare notes, although I've put just about everything I know in here already.
