From The Winston-Salem Journal of September 22, 2005--
"COLFAX -- Mr. Wayne Kelly Cleary, 55, of Colfax died Monday, Sept. 19, 2005, at his home. He was born July 17, 1950 in Wilkes County to Kelly L. and Ava Holbrook Cleary. Mr. Cleary was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Winston-Salem. One of his proudest accomplishments was that he received his Eagle Scout rank on Jan. 17, 1967, and went on to be an assistant scoutmaster with Troop 903. Mr. Cleary served his country for six years with the Army National Guard. He worked in the trucking industry for many years, with 15 years at EPES Transport in Greensboro. Mr. Cleary was preceded in death by his mother, Ava Holbrook Cleary, on May 26 of this year. He is survived by a daughter, Christina Kelli Cleary of Greensboro; a son, Lee Brooks Cleary of Winston-Salem; his father, Kelly Cleary of Winston-Salem; a sister, Gail Cleary Kolischak of Winston-Salem; and special friends Sherry Raso, Rusty Tucker, Phoebe Kirkman, and Martin Kearns. Funeral services will be conducte!
d at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 23, at Double Creek Baptist Church in Hays, with the Rev. Kevin Blevins and the Rev. Elmer Barker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, with military rites provided by VFW Post No 1142. The family will receive friends from i7 to 9 this evening, Sept. 22, at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to the Guilford County Humane Society, 4527 W. Wendover Ave., Greensboro, NC 27409. Mr. Cleary will be remembered as a generous, kind, and loving father, son, and brother."
