I am looking for information about my Great-Grandfather, Lawrence A. Cleary. In 1920 he and his wife Mary E. (nee McCann?) were living on Bay 24th St. in Brooklyn with 6 children (Lawrence Jr, Nellie, Edward (my grandfather), James, Marguerite, Lauretta, and Frank. Also living with them were a brother-in-law Frank McCann and niece Edith McCann. Wife and children were all born in Brooklyn, but Lawrence was born in New York. My grandfather recalled that his father showed him a place on Stone Street in New York where he had lived. Lawrence's wife, Mary, lived for a long time - I met her as a very small child in the early 50's. My grandfather, Edward, later moved to New Jersey and married Margaret Costigan, but I know most of his siblings stayed in Brooklyn and maybe Long Island. I have not been able to find any information pre-dating the 1920 Census data that I can verify as my great-grandfather, and nothing for my great-grandmother and would appreciate any help.

Hi,
I have a two Cleary brothers coming from the Curragh in Kildare Co. to the
Hibbert's estate about 1850, as horse grooms. Eventually, my Clearys are
farners in Cloontyconnaught townland (AKA Cloutha, Clounty) which is in Galway
county. By 1898 the county boundary shifts and the farm is now in Clare County.
I think one of the brothers was William, the other was possibly Micheal or
Thomas...
Best regards,
Jim McNamara

Is this a cruel coincidence? I am pretty certain that Daniel's middle name was Hubert and he was from Tipperary ... I also know ish that he was born in 1873 ... Kildare has never been mentioned in the family, though noone is very knowledgeable about the past. Maybe he changed his name to Hubert from Hugh? It seems an incredible coincidence - both parents with the right names, born in the right decade...!! I know Daniel H's father was a farmer (from DH's marriage certificate in Scotland) ... I just don't know. I'll contact you at your email as well.
Regards
Nick

I have O'Brien/Cleary grandparents. Cleary's came to US in about 1880. Patrick & brother, John, with their own families. Went first to MI, then to Montana. Patrick's daughter, Frances Mary, married Harry Herbert O'Brien. Harry was born in PA around 1880. His father, Dennis was born in Canada (1851), but both of his parents, Dennis and Mary, were born in Ireland (1832 and 1837). Dennis and Mary settled in PA.
Harry went to Montana to marry Frances Cleary. Some of the Cleary's remained in MI.
Any connection?
Audrey

I'm looking for a William Cleary who was born in Illinois in March of 1896. His father was James Cleary and mother was Sarah Brennan. He had a sister Vera {Veronica} and a brother Edmund. Find the family in the 1900 census in Wisconsin with William but the 1910 census in Illinois doesn't have him living with them. I did find in the SSI that a William Cleary with a March birthdate 1896 died in June of 1963. I would like to find out who he married and his children.
Thank you
Lillian

if there wer onky 2 children or more. Patrick's son Jeremiah (b 1886)
visited the family on the way back to Australia after WW1.
I know that I have relations in USA & I would like to contact them if I

I have a Maurice Cleary who had a sister Ellen. The Census shows this Ellen in Massachusetts - not in Australia. Maurice and Ellen's parents were James and Bridget Cleary. James was a farmer in Leominster, Massachusetts in 1870s- 1880s. James had a brother - Patrick who was my g grandfather.
James and Patrick's parents were Daniel and Elizabeth (Hackett) Cleary probably from Tipperary.
