Did any of your CLEARY ancestors work on the railroads? (Mine did.) I have just created a message board on Ancestry.com for U.S. Railroad Accidents. If you have news articles or stories regarding accidents that occurred on the railroads, in train depots, on train bridges, etc., please post them on the Railroad Accidents board along with all surnames involved. And be sure to check the board for your surnames. Stories will be added regularly. The new board is here:
Boards>Topics>Disasters>United States>Railroad Accidents
Go to main Message Boards Page.
Under topics click on “browse all topics.”
Click on Disasters.
Click on United States.
Click on Railroad Accidents.
If you think you’ll want to return to this category regularly, go to the Railroad Accidents message board and from just above the messages click on Add to Favorites or Add to Notifications. This will make it much easier to access the Railroad Accidents board on future visits to Ancestry.com.

I am looking for anyone who may have connection/knowledge, etc of Martin Irwin and Ellen Cleary who married probably c.1825 and lived in County Clare, Ireland. Wondering if anyone else had these two surnames in their family or whether there is any localized section of County Clare where these surnames might be more prominent than in other sections of that county. Thanks.

Re Cleary/Hogan inquiry:
The following info may be purely coincidental but my g'g'parents were Patrick
Cleary and Mary (Hogan) Cleary and they lived in Easkey, Sligo circa 1875. At
various times thay also lived at Rathgoonan and in Barney (near Cloonacool)
in County Sligo. Patrick was decribed as a small farmer and/or laborer.
Children of this marriage were:
Robert - dob 11/16/1869, at Easky, Sligo
Ann - dob 5/11/1872, at Easky
Mary - dob 9/18/1866, at Leharrow, Easkey parish
Beesy - dob 3/13/1875, at Rathgoonan, Easkey parish
Furthermore, an ANN HOGAN was present at one of the births.
Further info: a JOHN CLEARY was renting land in Easkey in 1833, and PETER and
JAMES CLEARY were renting the same land in 1857. I do not know the
relationship of these three people.
ROBERT emigrated to the US in 1894, became a NYC police officer and married
NORAH LUCEY in 1909, at Blessed Sacrament RC Church. They resided in the Bronx,
NY. He died "on the beat" in 1924.
I do not know what became of the family in Ireland so any info would be
appreciated.

I am also interested in finding more information on the Cleary Family from
Tipperary. My great grandmother was Joanna or Johanna Cleary. She married John
Fowler. My grandmother was Bridget Agnes Fowler. (1881-1981) She was born in
Mullinahone, Co. Tipperary. She arrived on Ellis Island Dec. 2, 1904. Another
interesting point is that I was told that we are distantly related to Charles
Kickham. An Irish poet and a member of Sein Fein.
I would appreciate any information any one may have on that line of Clearys.
Thank you.
Alice

Thankyou for your interest, but I have been unable to find anything on Charles Cleary from Clogheen, Tipperary, including siblings or parents. Unfortunately, the names you mention are not known to me, I wish they were. Thanks again.
Carole
Thanks for your message, unfortunately I have been unable to find any
information on my Charles including siblings or parents, therefore the names
you gave are unfamiliar to me. I'm sorry, I wish I had more.
Carole
