I have two aunts Mary and Francis as well an uncle Joseph all of whom lived in Philadelphia. My father was William Cleary Jr, their brother. There were other sibs as well. William Cleary, Sr and Francis Reilly are my grandparents. Does it sound like any of these folks were related to any of your Cleary's?

My grandparents were William Cleary and Frances Reilly. Their children were Walter, William, Joseph, Mary, Sarah (aka Sally), and Frances. All are deceased. Mary and Sally married later in life and never had children. My aunt Frances never married, and I believe died in her forties. The sons all married and had children. My Grandfather died about 10 days before I was born. My grandmother Frances died in childbirth at the age of 42. The baby died also. William and Frances are buried in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Philadelphia. My father is their second son William. I had intended to begin a search in ernest about my family this summer with some planned time off to go routing around Philadelphia. I have a copy of my oldest Uncle's Baptismal Certificate which gives the name of the church. I was hoping to find more information about the Reilley's. I am told it is likely that their first child would be baptized in the mother's parish and this was probably also where!
they were married.

Sorry for the spelling on previous message.
On 7 May, 1866, a John TURNER and Mary CONDON were the witneesses to the marriage of Thomas BARRET and Margaret CLEARY at the St. Patrick's Church in Garryowen, Jackson County, Iowa. The marriage was performed by Father KINSELLA. Does anyone have any information on the relationship of either John TURNER or Mary CONDON to either Thomas BARRET or Margaret CLEARY and any other information that may be helpful in identifying who this John and Mary are. Thanks in advance.

Hi Virginia,
I think I have information on the Austin Cleary you are looking for. He married Nora Mannion from Knockricard, Mayo Abbey, Claremorris, Co. Mayo and they emigrated to the USA (travelling to his Cousin Delia Flanagan (Brooklyn, Boston) in August 1920. He arrived abord the Caronia (arrived 17th) which departed Liverpool on 7th August he was on the same ship as his cousin Tom Flanagan (#602) - see Ellis Island Records. His parents were James Cleary and Margaret Murphy from Redhill, Tulrohan, Ballyhaunis, Co. Mayo.
I have information on his ancestors but none on his descendants? Could we do a swop?
Look forward to hearing from you
Niamh

Could you please send me an e-mail with whatever information you have on the Clearys of NYC who owned a tugboat line. I just discovered your message from Jan. Am very anxious to find out where these Clearys were from in Ireland. Thanks.

Hello fellow CLEARY researchers,
My CLEARYs were from Cloutha townland, Co Clare. This is a small farming community and this townland has had other names (it was known as Cloontyconnaught in 1901 & 1911 census and now is known as Clounty). This townland is located close to Mountshannon and Scarriff near Lough Derg. I believe that Michael Cleary (d 1920) was buried on Holy Island in Lough Derg. Possibly William was buried there as well. Many of my CLEARY cousins still live in the area as well as other areas of Ireland.
