John CLEARY (1825-1910, originally from London, England) married Margaret BEARDS (1825-1890) in Ireland in 1849. They immigrated to the US, to New York, then to New Jersey. They had a total of twelve kids:Mary Anne, John Christopher, Thomas William, James, Margaret, Christopher John, Catherine, Ellisa, August, Loretta, Allan (Elton?), and Henrietta.
I can go forward a little (one or two generations) on a few of the kids. I hope this helps someone find a link. Does anyone have any info going back further in this line?

Hi:
I have a William Horace Cleary in my database. I don't have any further information about him except that he was born in Quebec (probably in Shawbridge because his parents are buried in the Shawbridge cemetery). With respect to the Butlers, I believe that this was quite a common name in the Eastern Townships of Quebec. If I can be of any help, please contact me.

I am a Cleary I was adopted in 1955, my adoptive parents are William cleary & Irene Cleary. My Birth name was Joan Marie Butler fathers name William Butler, mothers name Margaret Butler. Anyone recognize these names, please contact me.
Anne:
I am sorry to say that I see no relationship.
I think now that when my g'mother spoke of Co. Cork, she was speaking of her
own family and not the Cleary side. She was of the Lucey family and I gather
that was a fairly common name in Cork.
I have no definite info to put g'father in Cork but, did come across an entry
in the Irish Birth Index to show dob as 1879 in town/parish of Clogher. I do
not know what county that is in. I have requested birth info, based on the
Irish birth Index entry, from the Irish authorities and await their reply.
Perhaps we might be some sort of cousins anyhow.

Bob, Do you know where in Ireland your grandfather came from? My great grandmother was Anne M. Cleary, daughter of Mark Cleary and Sarah Bennett married in Bulgaden, Limerick in 1852 and later of Thomastown. Anne left Ireland with one of her brothers and traveled around the world, ending up in NYC early 1880's. I don't know which brother. To the best of my knowledge she had 4, John, Mark, Henry and Patrick. I know Henry had sons named John and Henry, don't know about the others. If there's a connection, let me know

Looking for information.I am researching my Grandfathers parents.Have very little to go on. Parents are John & Bridget, 3 boys, Edward Gordon, Michael and Bernard. My Grandfathers birth certificate has him in New Foundland 1892. One brother passed away in WW1 Bernard-not sure about Michael. I can be reached at trikings(a)earthlink.net.
I had sent for death certificates on some Somers names who died in Itasca
County MN just in case they belonged in my family. Well, they don't. So
they are no use to me but you could know someone who may want them and I
would mail them out to whomever.
One is Elizabeth J. Somers, born 1877 in Dover, England & died 1946. Her
father was John Cleary born in Ireland and her husband was William Somers.
The informant was a Somers from Calumet, MN.
The other two are brothers who died the same day from accidental drowning in
Mud Lake. They died June 21, 1918---John Cleary Somers was born May 13, 1905
and Martin William Somers was born June 4, 1907. Parents are William Somers
born in Canada and Elizabeth Cleary born in England. Both death certificates
have William Somers of Calumet, MN as the informant. Elizabeth and the two
boys were buried in Hibbing, MN.

Frank,
Thanks for the reply. Bill Cleary is my cousin whom I have not heard from in a long time. I will contact him now that I have his E-mail address.
Whatever you have regarding our Cleary genealogy would be most appreciated. I have done extensive research on the Finn name and it's associated genealogy. My paternal grandparents came over from county Roscommon sometime during 1900 to 1905. They met and married in Boston in 1907. My wife and I are going to Ireland next summer to visit my Irish cousins. Now, perhaps, I can visit the Cleary ancestoal home.
My wife & I just got back from Nova Scotia after spending a week there. It was our 1st time there. Too bad I didn't access this Cleary message board prior to our trip.
Again, thanks for the reply. What ever you have, please send me.
Regards,
Tom Finn

I have been in contact with Bill Cleary of Boston, whose grandfather was Frank Cleary, youngest of 9 children of William Cleary and Ann Mullin, who came to Saint John, N.B. from Bridgewater, Donegal Co., Ireland. My grandfather, Hugh Cleary, born in 1857, was the oldest. From Bill Cleary I obtained d. of birth of your mother, Margaret, Mar. 18, 1911 - daughter of Frank and Lillian Baker, from Lunenberg, N.S., who were married in Saint John on Sept. 30, 1908, before moving to Boston. Lots more data if you're interested, and willing to share. Frank H.

Do you know if Patrick and Frances Cleary had a daughter Frances? My great great grandmother was Frances Cleary. She married Timothy OBrien. The were both from Ireland and emigrated to Brooklyn. They had mygreat grandfather Henry in 1861. Any connection?
I do not know if my Cleary family had a William. there were 13 children born, some of whom died as children. These are the only children I know of: Ella, Margaret, Katherine, Josephine, John, Elizabeth, Francis, Edward, Robert James and Edna M.
I am looking for a James Gordon, emigrated from Northern Ireland, roughly 1844. Married Mary Ann Armstrong and lived in Wilmington. I don't think we have a match there.
I am also looking for a Cleary in Philadelphia. Do you know if your Cleary had a son named William. My great grandmothers sister, Frances Reilly, married a William Cleary sometime after 1910. Frances was born in 1884 and lived with her sister in 1910 in Philly. I ran into brick wall trying to find information on William Cleary.
By the way, my Gordon branch comes from James Gordon md. Anne Silbert, George Washington Gordon md Mary Elizabeth Reilly, and my father Henry Spiel Gordon md Marie Arleth. All Philadelphians.
Looking for any information on Ellen Cleary and Dennis Maloney of Ireland. They had a daughter, Ellen (Maloney) McNamara born: 8-15-1836 (based on death cert info) She died 8-15-1905 in Springfield, MA. Ellen Maloney married Patrick J. McNamara on 5-10-1851 in Springfield, MA. They had four sons (at least) Dennis, Michael, Patrick and John.
Dennis McNamara (b:7-28-1857 in SPFD) married Julia Crowley (b:2-1857 Ire) on 7-4-1880 in SPFD. They had 4 children, Mary Edna, John J., Helena and Edward.
If any of this sounds familiar, please let me know kchaser(a)hotmail.com. Thank you.
