Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
From what I read on these site's the age seems to be 18
However here is a site of Irish Law which also has a List where you can ask
questions.
Its informative, not sure how much history of law it could help with, I think
you want to know the age of a minor for that time period. In germany you can
drink beer at 12.
Might want to write these folks.

Just received copy of 1875 Marriage cert for Ggrandparents. Married in
Cathederal, Cork City - Age given as "minor" - does this mean under "21" or
under "18" Thanks.

Ok, I don't have a Michael, but I do have brothers Patrick and William born
between 1823 and 1830 and settled in Milwaukee. Patrick married a MaryAnn
Conway and had three daughters, Isabelle, Katherine and Margaret. William
was a suicide in Milwaukee in 1901. He was married to Ellen O'Brien who died
in 1904. Their daughter was Mary Ann born in 1856, married Frederick George
Lynde in 1884 and died in 1904
Okie dokie--a lot of people DON'T know and I misunderstood your reference to
scanning the book and your website I thought you meant you wanted to have it
scanned in order to put it on your website. Many people who have websites
do not have a clue about copyright --I'm glad that you are so aware and did
not mean to seem critical meant to be helpful. dianne

Dianna,
As a writer I should mention --you would need to get permission from the
author to put much of the book on your website--otherwise it's copyright
infringement. If there are old records quoted in the book <I have NO idea
haven't read it> you could go to the source of the records and include those
on your website. You may be able to use a few quotes from the book on the
site without permission. There are places on the web (many) where you can
check the specifics of copyright laws. Just thought I should mention it as
I sure don't want to see you get yourself into 'hot water' dianne
P.S. When you see books scanned onto websites on the net they are either 1.)
out of copyright (lots of OLD books are) 2. Have permission from the author
3. ARE in violation of copyright laws

Folks:
I married into the Cleary family, the Canadian side. The first record that
I have located for this family is for James Cleary b c 1820 in County
Monaghan m to Ann Darmody on 1 Apr 1845 in Ste. Catherine, Portneuf Co,
Quebec.
Needless to say when I was at a used book store a number of weeks ago I was
delighted to find the following:
"The Burning of Bridget Cleary - A True Story" by Angela Bourke - printed in
1999 - ISNB 0-7126-6590-0 - published by Pimlico.
Very interesting, though it is not part of the Cleary family that I am
searching. This Cleary family is from Tipperary, Ballyvadlea which is north
west of Waterford and west of Kilkenny.

Not sure if anyone has noticed the bounced mail, but we should be
through about all of them now. The system allows 4 bounces before they
are automatically removed from our list and I didn't know who was active
or not.
so if I could ask all to reply a hi to this I think that will finish it
off and we won't get any bounces unless of course one of you addy's
change and you don't tell us. Don't do that.

Hi everyone,
My Cleary ancester is a William. I have a recording of his daughter saying
he came from Tipperary and that he stowed away on a boat when he was 9
(according to the1900 census, he was 5 and came over in1848). He was born
in 1843. We figure if he was that young he was probably traveling with
someone. He had a son named James b. ~1866. Rumor was he came straight to
St. Louis by I am suspicious.

I can't wait to see if we can connect these branches! I do not know the birth
and death dates for my James (as of yet). His first child was born 14 Dec
1885 which was James, Jr. So right now I am speculating his birth to be
around 1850. James Sr. had six children:
1. James Cleary Jr. born 14 Dec 1885
2. Timothy Cleary born 30 Oct 1887
3. Matthew Cleary born 2 Jun 1889
4. Hugh Cleary born 26 Oct 1891
5. Emmitt Cleary born 3 Dec 1893 * My Line
6. Ollie Cleary born 19 Jul 1897
I have checked Hardeman County marriages from 1823-1950 and have not found
James Sr. and Betty Stewart on record. I will be visiting a great-aunt
sometime soon and will try to find out more about James Sr. Do any of these
sound familiar?

Hi do you have an aprox. birth on James. I have to laugh, I do have a cousin here
who has a tape saying our William was a stow away and at one point lived with
them, his name was James.
Think theres a match? I forwarded your mail to my cousin here. You think?
