Pam, I may be able to answer some questions (with help from my mom!) about Cora B. (NOT Dora B.)and John Edward Clearwater. They were my mom's grandparents. I told my mom about your post and she was excited that someone was working on Clearwater geneology. My mom heard when she was growing up that John E. Clearwater (who was called Jack)left home in PA at about age 13 and worked his way across the country to CA. She believes he had two or three sisters, one of whom was named Grace. She has no other information about his family, why he left home at such a young age, and does not think he had contact with them after he left PA. John E. worked for the railroad for a time, owned a candy/ice cream store before the earthquake, and made wine. As far as Cora, my mom says her maiden name was Morris, and that Cora's mom's maiden name was Bidwell (the B in Cora B.) My mom said that the Morrises may have been a well-to-do San Francisco family, based on a few stories she heard growing!
up. She does not believe she ever heard Cora's or John's parents' first names. Cora had two brothers my mom has heard of. One was Roy Morris who was married, and the other was Ray Morris who never married. Hope there is a bit of information here that might help you. My email is dwhedges(a)yahoo.com.

Thank you so much for this information. I was researching Marion Davies. Marion was born August of 1925, her father died April 1926. I was not aware that she was in a Foster Home. I had found the obituary and it did not make sense at the time. I did not realize that her mother had not taken care of her.
Thank you again.

I just happened to google my grandfather's name (Ray E. Clearwater)and got an obituary for his mom. ( I believe). However, my great-grandmother's name was Cora B., not Dora B. Clearwater. B was for her maiden name of Bidwell. She was married to John Edward Clearwater and had two (not three) children that I know of. One was my grandfather, Ray and the other was my grandfather's sister, Doris. Don't know who Marion is but plan to ask my mom! My email is dwhedges(a)yahoo.com
