I just checked out this website- and am letting you know that while SOME of this is accurate... I just spotted some things that I KNOW FOR FACT are NOT in my Grandmother's line. So I will be contacting them for corrections...but I cannot say this enough...records...records...records. :)

Hi. David Clear and Amy Anna Jones (the "Annie"..she actually went by Anna) are my great-great-great grandparents. Her sister is Margaret- married to Joel Hell who is a cousin of David's. The name was changed by David's great grandfather, because Clear is the English derivitive of the German spelling of Hell. My grandma once told me that the running family joke was that they "Cleared outta Hell". LOL.
Also- there are 2 Jacob Hell's David's acending tree and more when the Hell surname was changed to Clear. David's father's name was Jacob as was his grandfather. Jacob Sr. is Johann Michael Hell's son (he immigrated to PA from Germany via the Lydia from Rotterdam in 1749).
I am concentrating my research on this family right now. I will let you know what I find.
