I'm looking for more information on Isaac Clear, father of Samuel Clear (1847 Indiana - 1914 Miami Co., Indiana).
So far what I've gathered from others is that Isaac was born in Preble County, Ohio (which makes sense because there are several Clear's in Preble County in the early to mid 1800's). Someone indicated that Isaac died shortly after Samuel's birth in Randolph County, Indiana. Does anyone have confirmation of his death? I'd also be really curious to know if there are guardianship records or anything that show Isaac's children. Generally that early on, if the widow kept the children it was done through the court. I've got 3 brothers (no sisters) listed for Samuel but I don't feel confident in that information.
I guess what I'm wanting is to do my own footwork but to get some more idea of where I ought to start looking.
Also, Isaac's father was Jacob or was his father Samuel, son of Jacob? The only probate record I could find in Preble County was for Joel Clear, but Jacob was listed on the record (Jacob may have been Joel's father). Samuel was listed in other records as a witness or as having purchased items at estate sales, but there was no probate record for Jacob or Samuel. Did they leave Preble County? If so, where did they go?
Also, FYI, I actually found the Clear's in Preble County while looking up Pearson's in Preble County. The Pearson's later went to Carroll County, Indiana, just south of Miami County, where my Samuel Clear lived. The two families didn't become interrelated until the 1940's. So I make the assumption that that area of Indiana was a popular destination for folks from Preble County.
