Hi Katy,
It might be that you have info farthur back than I do on the Winebrenners. I only go to Johann. As far as the Clears be very careful where you get your info. I found this wonderful site with all the clears and added the info to my program. Well then I found a Bio of Clinton County and the info I had was wrong so I deleted all my Clears out and am starting over with them. I am only putting what I can prove. I am going back thru all the census records now but it is very time comsuming. Sometimes I get the Clears and Cripes mixed up LOL but one of them is from Carroll co Indiana and before then Ohio. Good Luck!!!

Ruth... I am sorry I didn't specify to which Cornelius I was referring; but you obviously figured it out just fine despite that. The Winebrenner side of the family tree is not hard to trace (in fact, in case you don't already have it... I'm sure you have it, though... I have the Winebrenner pedigree back to the point of before Johann came to the usa...) but the Clear... that's where I get lost. Noone seems to know the names of Sarah Clear Winebrenner's parents. Do you believe that the Clears are of German extraction? If so, I have found some people who seem to fit the bill. Have a nice day, Ruth! And thanks for your help.
Katy

Katy,
There are 2 Cornelius Clears. The one I think you are referring to is married to Mary Jane Cripe. Cornelius was my great grandfather. His parents were Isaac Winebrenner and Sarah Clear. I believe Cornelius got into some sort of trouble and he took his mothers maiden name for his last name instead of using his fathers name. So from Cornelius back you need to search for the Winebrenners. Cornelius' brother Joseph keep the name of Winebrenner. But his sister Sarah Catherine used Clear also. Makes for very difficult searching lol. When I was a kid the reunion's were always named Weinbrenner/Clear. My grandmother keep the reunion going until the early 1970's.

Teri: it would be so wonderful if you had the names of Cornelius' grandparents... What I know about this family is barely more than what seems to be common knowledge in this forum. However... we are discovering some people who really seem to be like grandparents of Cornelius. If you have any idea of first or last names for them... please let me know. I will be more than happy to share with you what we have found. Good luck!!!

Hello there Cousin,
Hannah Elizabeth Clear was My Great Aunt "Lizzie". Her sister Della May Clear is my grandmother. Aunt Lizzie married John Weimer. One of their daughters Della was named after my Grandmother. Cornelius and Mary Jane Cripe had 9 children. One daughter Sarah J. died when she was 13. The other Children were Hannah, Della, John, George, Clyde, Anna, Francis and Alice. Aunt Frances and Aunt Alice were twins. Aunt Lizzie's daughter Della married Orval Howe. I remember going to Della's home with grandma to visit Aunt Lizzie before she passed away. I have quite a few pictures of the family. I am always willing to share with distant cousins. You may email me direct if you like. My email is ImHapy2Day(a)aol.com

I would like to jump into this discussion with what I hope is correct information. My husband's gr.gr.grandmother was HANNAH ELIZABETH CLEAR, oldest daughter of CORNELIUS and MARY J. CRIPE CLEAR, born 23 January 1870, clinton county, IN. I believe there may be as many as 11-12 children born to this couple. At least 2 of which died in infancy. Would love to trade info. Thanks !

I am looing for information on Roanna and Nancy Clear. Nancy is listed as a landowner in the 1830's in Giles County, Tn. It is rumored that their family moved on to Lawrence County Al or the Russlville area. That is the extent of our knowledge on them.
Thanks
