My Charles CLEAR, born "in Canada" (probably Ontario) appears in 1859 in Columbia, Tenn. where he married Amanda Hodge. I do not know exactly where his ancetors came from but his parents seem to have been born in Canada. In 1870 he appears in St. Louis MO where he lived until his death in 1921.
We know he had a sister named Kate Clear who apparently taught school in chicago. I do have a photo of him at about age 45 or so.
Do any of these names ring a bell?
