Well, Hello Cousin Susan,
Actually, I don't know yet. I have Aunt Lizzies birthday as January 23, 1870 and I only have 1870 listed under Aunt Anna. I don't think they were twins because my Mom would have it listed it in the information she left me when she passed away.She listed Aunt Alice and Aunt Frances as the only twins. Do you know where they were all born? I know we used to go to Cambria to see Uncle George, and I know Uncle Clyde lived in Florida, because Grandma used to go visit him there each year. I have Grandma listed as being born in Frankfort. Which one is your direct line? Do you have any information on Aunt Lizzie's daughter Della Weimer's marriage to Orville Howe? Lets email direct and talk.
My email address is ImHapy2Day(a)aol.com
Huggs Cuz, nice to meet you :)
Ruth

Thanks, Ruth, for your informative reply. I actually had most of that information, but I'm sure many people will be very pleased to find concise details such as the ones you've posted here. The biggest question in my mind is this: Who are Sarah Clear's parents? My query about Sarah, Cornelius (who married Mary Root) and Mary-ann was actually a suggestion that perhaps they were siblings. They were all born in Darke County, Ohio between 1820 and 1830. I was hoping that someone might know the names of their parents. For example, if someone knew who Cornelius's parents were, I'd research to see if indeed they were Sarah's parents as well. Anyway, thanks so much!

Maybe this will clarify a little information on this board.
Cornelius Clear b.1844 married Mary Jane Cripe b.1852
They had 9 children:
Della May Clear b.1885 (my Grandmother)
George W. Clear b.1873
Clyde Thomas Clear b. 1881
John Clear
Hannah Elizabeth (Lizzie) Clear b.1870
Frances E. Clear b. 1880 (Twin to Aunt Alice)
Sophia Alice Clear b. 1880 (Twin to Aunt Frances& went by
the name of Alice)
Margaret Anna Clear b. 1870 (went by name of Anna)
Sarah J. Clear b. 1875 (Sarah died at age 13)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Cornelius Clear b. 1821 OH d. 5 Jun 1867 Union City, IN buried Union City Cemetery. Married Mary Rececca Root b. May 1823 OH d. Apr 1903 Wayne Twp, IN buried German Baptist "Dunkard" Cemetery. Cornelius and Mary are the parents of 10 children: 1) Abraham P. 2) Sophia P. (m. Jesse A. Baker) 3) David H. (m. Margaret Haney) 4) John J. 5) Susanna Alice (m. Daniel Woodbury) 6) Mary 7) Sarah C. 8) Laura Adeline (m. Jacob Welch) 9) Malinda C. (1st m. Soloman Welch 2nd m. Charles A. Harshman) 10) Amanda Jane.
I don't know if the 2 Cornelius's were related or not but they both Married a Mary. I think this is what is confusing everyone. From the interchanging of the first names, I would tend to think they were related somewhere.
Hope this helps you determine which Cornelius belongs to you.
Good Luck
Ruth
Greetings all,
A project is now under way at Leicester University exploring the links
between the many, widespread families of CLARE in the UK and abroad, and how
they relate to each other. It uses DNA sampling, looking at the Y
chromosome, and it's free for any males surnamed CLARE [and CLEER, CLEAR,
CLEARE ...]
Please see the full explanation at my Family History website ...
http://www.maryceleste.co.uk/famhist/clare/clare-dna1.htm ... and contact me
(initially) if you would like to take part, or want to know more. For the
sampling, the Genetics Dept. sends a little thing like a toothbrush, a tiny
bottle, and a stamped addressed envelope ... it's very straightforward,
professional and confidential.
This is a unique opportunity to find out if, and how, the family trees of
apparently-unrelated CLARE researchers may fit together. Some firms offer
individual DNA testing for 100 pounds or more, but this survey is an
academic one, potentially surveying our whole surname-tribe, and it is
entirely without charge.
Please do visit http://www.maryceleste.co.uk/famhist/clare/clare-dna1.htm
and get in touch to indicate preliminary interest. Feel free to pass this
message on to anyone involved with CLARE family history.
Best wishes
