I don't have any information about the Clayton/Cleton/Kletons.
Interesting.

Hi everybody,
I am Peter Kleton,
I live in the Netherlands and am a descendant from another William Clayton
who went from England to The N. in about 1620.
Can somebody somewhere in the world tell me about these William ?
Greetings ,
Peter Kleton,
Netherlands
Hi Paul Cox.
Thanks for your answer.
This W.Cl. is not the one I am looking for.
I know the history about this man and his life in England as a Quaker and
his emigration to the States.
"My "William went to the Netherlands to serve as a soldier in the army of
the "Staten van Holland "to fight against the Spaniards. He married a Dutch
woman and so it started with the "Dutch "branch of the Clayton family.
Later the family became divided in the family names Cleton and Kleton.
A friend of my father wrote the book "Kleton and Cleton "
Greetings ,
Peter Kleton.

I have information on a William Clayton who emigrated from England on the
ship "Kent" in 1677. He was a Quaker and took up residence in Pennsylvania.
Could that be who you are looking for?

but haven?t been able to find any documentation or book that connectsthem.
Henrietta was born ca 1821 in GA, married Thomas JeffersonEvans in
Paulding Co., GA in Jul 1838 (I have the marriage record), and then they
moved to
AL/MS. Since she gotmarried before the 1850 census, she is not listed on a
census with her parents.
She had 10 children and died probably in MS between1860-1873 (she is on
the 1860 census; husband remarried in 1873; I have notfound them on the
1870
census).
Her father died before she did and he owned land in MarionCo., AL, but I
have not yet found a will or probate record that might havelisted her name.
Since the courthouse burned in 1887 (he died before 1860), Idon?t expect to
find one.
Thanks for any help.
