Hi: Sorry can't help you . My claytons are all from Worcestershire England
way back into 1700's then into Canada in the 1900's .Hope you get some
leads.- Lorraine from Canada.
Does anyone have a John Morgan Clayton who would have been a children's dentist in Kansas City in the 1930s. I think he was my grandmothers Aria (Arie Ann/Ara) first cousin, but she was probably raised in his home as his adopted sister. Their grandfather would have been John Fletcher Clayton. John F. was a chartering member of the town of Wheatland, MO where he was also a physician, circuit riding Methodist pastor and apparently a hotel owner. His son John C (Charley) my great grandfather was killed when Aria was a baby and know she spent of her childhood in the home of her uncle William Clayton in Buffalo, Missouri. Some records say William adopted her. But, whether this was a formal adoption or not have no idea. Adoption records are sealed in Missouri and she may have also lived part of the time in the home of her grandfather John F, her mother Mary Jane Knott (second marriage) and an aunt Addie. Her mothers maiden name was Vest and she was the daughter of Nancy Caroline Rush Vest and AJ Vest.
John Morgan's parents were William and Emma Clayton. Siblings included Pansy and William. Think William Sr. ran a shoe store in Buffalo, Missouri.
