My Clayton Famlies were in Georgia in the late 1700. If anyone has Clayton's
that go back to Georgia, I would like to hear from you.
Moses Clayton was the Father of Jesse Clayton. Jesse Clayton was born in
Georgia.
Jesse Clayton m: Jensey Jane Lamb. They had a son Moses L. Clayton who was
born in Princeton, Caldwell County, Kentucky.
When Moses Lamb Clayton was 12 years old, his family moved to Morgan
County, Illinois.
The Note below is what I have on Jesse Clayton and his wife:
=========================================================
Jensey Jane Lamb was the mother of Moses L. Clayton. She and Jesse Clayton
were listed 8 Oct 1811 in Caldwell County KY with the intention of being
married. Longshore Lamb was the security. I haven't see the documentation on it but
suspect it is correct. The woman who posted the Longshore Lamb court
information is Brenda Joyce Jerome who is a professional. She seems to know her stuff
and has at least one book published on Caldwell County Marriage Records. The
info. was transcribed by Susan Lamb Griffith. All of the folks who have posted
things on the internet about Jensey and Jesse say they married AFTER 8 Oct 1811.
It could be the full info. about the marriage (like the return) will be in
the book on Caldwell Co. Marriages that I ordered via interlibrary loan. At
least we know WHEN they did something about being married.

I'm looking for Ellen Clayton's birth record. I believe she is daughter of Julia Marchment and born in England. Julia married James Clayton, a seaman, in Portsmouth in 1854 (both "of full age"). I don't know if James was actually Ellen's father. I have Julia/James' marriage certificate, also Ellen's marriage certificate to Frank Forster in 1877 and Ellen's death certificate in 1930 at age 81. I've tried versions of Ellen, Helen, Nellie, etc., also variations of Marchment. I've looked for her as Ellen Marchment as well, in case Julia was unmarried when Ellen was born. Any help would be appreciated.
