Hello,
Well....I can't say for sure if my Claytons are from the "steak sauce" part
of the UK.... but they ARE from Colonial Virginia........ I think 1 of them
was the famous botanist...Thomas Clayton, who I think was also Va's 1st Att'y
Gen.... or something like that...
Anyway, keep me posted... That DNA site sounds very interesting....
Tim
Hi, Lorraine,
I am not interested in the DNA part, but my Claytons came from
Worchestershire in the 1700s also. The earliest records I have go back t Lawrence
and Anne who were married in 1700. Does that ring any bells with you.
Nancy in California.
Hi: I would like to have the free DNA Clayton testing if I qualify. I am a
female Clayton who can trace her family back to Worcestershire, England to the
mid 1700's. My father came to Canada from England in 1912. I would appreciate
a reply, and if as a female I can not be tested I have brothers also who
would appreciate a try at it. Thanking you in advance , regards ----Lorraine
(Clayton) Livingston(e), Ontario. Canada.
Hello,
Hmmmmmm. Very interesting!! My mother was a Virginia Clayton..with roots
going back deep into the 1800's in the Dominion State. So you can count
me in I guess....
Keep me posted..
Tim

Have little to go on in the way of making a connection, but RB is in the area of Marion County TN in 1819 on Indian Lands and my Ann Clayton Tompson is in Marion Cty TN by 1832..census records indicate she was born in TN. If anyone has additional information on RB Clayton, would love to hear from you.

Well, I thought we had a match, but maybe not. I have a gr,gr grandfather named William G Clayton married to Emma Susan, but William was born in 1866 and married his first wife in 1888 from that marriage, I have a gr,gr uncle John and Jim. William did have a wife named Susan (Sukey) Elizabeth, but I don't know if that was a first or second. If this works at all, let me know, WG's father was William Jordon William was born in 1835 married to Elizabeth. I haven't gotten to the other children there.

I should have looked at this more closely before. It is my belief from the work done by Ann Whalen that Joseph is the son of Francis Clayton and Elizabeth. Please contact me directly so we can work on this more closely and compare DNA info since your and my tests were done by different companies.

I'm the Clayton DNA Project Coordinator. Courtesy of FamilyTreeDNA.com We have several Free DNA Tests Available if you sign up for them BEFORE Dec 31, 2006. Please contact me ASAP if you are interested. They apply only to someone who has never had their DNA tested before and for a limited number of tests. There are even a couple of mtDNA tests for Female DNA if someone has a maternal ONLY CLAYTON line going back to at least the early 1800's. The kits will be first come, first serve only. Get authorization from me BEFORE you sign up if you expect to get a FREE TEST!
Because people often are confused on y-DNA vs mt-DNA vs mixed Maternal/Paternal DNA I will need to confirm a Clayton Ancestry known to at least the early 1800's back a Male or Female ONLY line to qualify.
