I also have the Clayton name in my genealogy. My Great Grand Dad, Moses L.
Clayton, has been a difficult one for me to research. Here is what I have for
him.
. 1, Moses L. Clayton was born 27 Sept. 1821, in Princeton, Caldwell
County, Kentucky.
2. At about the age of twelve his family migrated to Morgan Country,
Illinois.
3. They may have spent time in Missouri before moving on to Illinois.
4. Moses L. Clayton had a farm near the town of Franklin, Illinois.
5. He was a member of the Methodist Church in Franklin.
6. He belonged to the Masonic Lodge in Franklin.
7. He married Alpha Martin Clayton, who was the daughter of William
Clayton & Betsy Woods.
8. They had six children, Emma Clayton b: 1848, she married Dr. J. R.
Trott of Virden, Illinois, they had one child named Oscar; Martha Elizabeth
Clayton b: 19 Apr. 1850, she married J.W. Clack of Macoupin County, Illinois; Mary
Elizabeth Clayton b: 1851 in Morgan County, she married Daniel Casper
ROUTZAHN; Charles E. Clayton b: 1852: William H. Clayton b: 16 Oct. 1856, he married
E. May SILLOWAY of St. Louis; and Ed Clayton.
9. Census records indicate the parents of Moses L. Clayton were born in
Georgia.
10. Martha Clayton was baptized into the Church of Latter Day Saints. It is
very likely the Church Records will indicate the ancestors for her father,
Moses L. Clayton.
Above is the extent of my research on Moses L. Clayton, if anyone has any
suggestions please let me know.
Sincerely,
Richard Brice - richbrice1(a)aol.com

I would like to have any information on the CLAYTON surname after abt 1735.
I have been researching Moses L. CLAYTON, b: 17 September, 1821, in
Princeton, Caldwell County, Kentucky. According to census reports, he listed his
parents as being born in Georgia.
Any information will be appreciated.

I'm seeking documentation for the parents/grandparents etc. of Sarah (Clayton) Borden (1652/4 - 1735), wife of Matthew Borden (1638-1708), beyond or in addition to anything I have found on the net thus far. Sources seem to agree on Richard Clayton as her father, but there seems to be despute concerning her mother, listed in some places as Margaret Fell, daughter of Henry Fell. Prior to giving up this search, hopefully a Clayton connection will have what I seek.
Also, what is the connection between Sarah (Clayton) Borden (1652/4 - 1735) and Margaret (Askew) Fell Fox, wife of George Fox and Mother of Quakerism, if anyone out there has info on the matter...?

SPECIAL EDITION: Eastman's Online Genealogy Newsletter
The following "Special Edition" is being sent to subscribers to the Plus
Edition of Eastman's Online Genealogy Newsletter:
I have written a number of times about a genealogy-related scam that
operates under a variety of names, including GenSeekers.com,
GenealogyGiants.com and more. In the July 7 edition of the newsletter, I
identified the owner/operator of this "business" as 21-year-old Elias
Abodeely of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Since then, I have had conversations with
several people in Iowa about this "business."
I can now report that earlier today the Cedar Rapids police department
arrested Elias Abodeely for his activities with GenSeekers.com and the
other Web sites he operates.
KWWL television in Iowa is now reporting that Cedar Rapids Police have made
an arrest after a two year Internet crime investigation. The crimes
involved genealogy websites. Today police arrested Elias Abodeely II of
Cedar Rapids.. He faces four charges: 1st degree theft, identity theft,
money laundering, and ongoing criminal conduct. Police say they expect to
file charges against more suspects.
Details are still developing. Keep an eye on the newsletter Discussion
Board at http://www.eogn.com for updates. I will also be writing about this
in the next newsletter.
You can read my earlier article at http://www.eogn.com/archives/news0327.htm.
