SERENDIPITY: On the Jan-Feb 1990 issue of "The Genealogical Helper" magazine, are two charming photographs of several generations of a family with connections to Enderlin, ND. Pictured are:
(1) Four generations, taken in 1920, Enderlin, ND: M. Valeria (Clayton) McDougall born 1881; B. Emerillis (McDougall) McConnell born 1900; Virginia (Wolf) Clayton born 1860 who is holding her great-granddaughter Mildred McConnell born Feb 1919.
(2) Another lovely four-generation photo: Grandpa Reuben Quinn Clayton born 23 Jan 1860; mother Mary Valeria (Clayton) McDougall born 04 Sept 1881; baby Blance (?sp) Emerillis McDouglall born 25 Dec 1900; great-grandma Mary Ellin (Darnell) Clayton born 10 Dec 1831.
These wonderful photos were submitted by Wilton, CA submitter, Ms. M. M. Bradley. Please reference that issue for further details.
Hopefully, this "snippet" will provide "just the right clue" to a researcher.

I am looking for a Michael Clayton married to Frances Jones inLaunceston Tasmania. I can't find out who his parents are, or any date of birth, but have found a Michael Clayton born in NSW 1836 father John, and mother Margaret Fox, do you know these?
I am looking for info on my GGGrandmother Mary Clayton. I only know she married a will Butcher/Boucher and they had at least 2 children, Helen Mae and William Tell Butcher, both born in Mississippi. Any relation? Thanks
If I remember correctly, and I believe that I do, your Bath Co. Claytons are descended from the 'Our Kin' Claytons from Va.
It was long ago when I saw the connection, and I will not be able to remember the specifics of it, but am very sure that the older line included one of the 'George's', possibly the one who was an ancestor of Lambert, but I am not sure about that part of it.
I am pretty sure that this will not be a wild goose chase, I think the connection is relatively close, possibly within 2 generations, no more than three.
Sorry that I cannot remember the specifics.
I am looking for my ggg gf . I know he lived to be about 105 yrs. is buried in Chamberlain S.D. lived in Mills Co. Ia. had 2 daughters that I know of ..Mary, moved to S.D. Myra.. married Barnet Manzer Green my gg grandparents. they had daughter Myra Elvira Green... married George Hiram Hoyt
Can anyone help me..... please and Thank you.Audrey

Charline and Kim, This message may be so old you forgot you posted it but I'm just getting around to this message board. I've tracked our Claytons to the Revolutionary War, living in South Carolina but all my info is circumstantial because I can't find any proof that Ed is a part of the line I've been studying. But from names that Dad gave me I'm 99.9 percent sure. Are either of you going to be at the family reunion next week? I'm bringing all my info with me. Hope to see you there! Alice
I received a backdoor worm virus yesterday and it sent itself to my address book. It is now removed. Please consider mail
from me "clean" unless it was sent 7/16-7/17 and has an attachment. Thank you, Sharyn Hay, storknurse
Hello fellow listers! I guess I am the only red-headed stepchild on the
list. My Claytons were in LOUISANA in the early 1800's. HARRIET A
CLAYTON was my gggrandmother. She was born 1831 in LA.
Do I have any possible relatives on the list? I feel like an orphan.

Last year I found a nice scrapbook at Walmart which had thick black pages. I
took plain white computer paper and lightly washed the papers with tea
leaves to give them an antique look, arranged my info on each page and glued
them to the black pages. I bought the decorative corner stickers to accent
the pages as well.
It turned out beautiful and was a lovely 85th birthday gift for my
grandmother Dorothy (Chadder) Clayton.

Fellow Listers:
I'm afraid that many of us are not getting the benefit
we might from the list due to the subject lines being
used for messages. It goes without saying we are all
searching for Claytons but your subject lines are not
helping others identify which Clayton you are interested
in.
A recent digest had 10 messages and all but one gave
any specific information that might make a cousin
pause to read the message.
I'm not a stickler for format but please try to include
a given name (who), a location (where), and time frame
(when) in your subject line. The body of your message
should include WHAT you are looking for -- hopefully
something other than "seek any information."
A carefully planned query will bring far better results
than many I have seen of late.
Before you hit the SEND button, please re-read your query
and make sure it specifies the who, where, when and what
you are looking for. If not, perhaps you need to rework
your message.

corresponded. He's a lovely person. And hello Mary. Yes we have compared
notes and I am still looking for Sampson's father whenever I do any Clayton
research.
> Dolly this is my direct line and where I stand. Gowan Clayton was in
the 1790 and 1800 Census in the Greenville Dist.but none in the Spartanburg
Dist until 1810 and then there were two Gowans in the 1810 and 1820 Census
in Spartanburg Dist. There is a Jr. after the name on a land grant which
indicates to me that there must have been a Sr. somewhere around. The 1790
Census give Gowan's age as 32. So where was he during those 32 years? Was
this Gowan the Jr. on the land grant and the Gowan listed in Spartanburg,
age 27, actually Gowan the Third? Then there is Jeremiah Clayton. He is
listed in the 96 Dist. Spartanburg Co. in the 1790 Census. Is he Gowan's
father? In the Spartanburg Co. Records of the Commissioners of the Poor,
Gowan is listed as the agent for Jeremiah. There is a Jeremiah Clayton
listed on the 1755 Tax list for Granville Co., NC and also listed on the
muster roll for Col. William Eaton's militia Regiment, Capt. John Sallis'
Co. on 8 Cot. 1754 in!

Hello everyone!! I am sending this message to the Clayton List to make sure I don't miss anyone that has been kind enough to answer my plea for help. THANK YOU ALL!!!!
Hi Dolly, nice to meet you and yes I have met Richard Heath and we have corresponded. He's a lovely person. And hello Mary. Yes we have compared notes and I am still looking for Sampson's father whenever I do any Clayton research.
Dolly this is my direct line and where I stand. Gowan Clayton was in the 1790 and 1800 Census in the Greenville Dist.but none in the Spartanburg Dist until 1810 and then there were two Gowans in the 1810 and 1820 Census in Spartanburg Dist.
