Another site for this is the US Postal Service web site ...
www.usps.gov The USPS site is more likely to be the most up-to-date
for ZIP Codes and ZIP+4 codes, plus you can get lots of other information
from it, including rates and packaging requirements. There's also a link
to the Smithsonian's National Postal Museum. Eventually, the NPM will
have a database of every Postmaster for every post office in the country,
from the time the office was established to now, or when it was closed.

Hi Martha,
What do you know about this Julia. I know she is not William's
mother but who was she? I am very anxious to find out where she came
from, parents, siblings, etc. Her migration was VA, Stokes,NC, Gibson
Co.,TN, Pike Co., MS. Was she William's sister? Thanks,
Joyce
I think someone was asking about this Clayton family.

More About This Book:
Send orders to: William A. Clayton, PO Box 8954, Tyler, TX 75711.
John Clayton of Gloucester and Isle of Wight counties, Virginia, is the
earliest proven ancestor for this family. He was a contemporary of John
Clayton, the famous botanist, and his father who was attorney general of the
Virginia colony, but no relation to this family is known. John died in Isle
of Wight County in 1758, leaving a will that mentions seven children,
including son George. The line is followed through George and his son,
Charles, to Charles Collier Clayton, born 1781 in Charlotte County, then to
his son, Charles Collier Clayton, Jr. Charles Collier, Jr. was born in 1801
in Pendleton District, South Carolina. He married Eliza Berryan Richey in
1824 in Jefferson County, Alabama. Collier and two of his brothers were
among the first settlers of northeast Mississippi, according to abstracts of
property in Itawamba County dating to 1836. Descendants of Collier, Jr. are
followed up to the present. Other chapters follow the other children of
Charles Collier Clayton, Sr. and his wife, Nancy Toney, and their
descendants where known, including female lines.
Among the related families mentioned are Abernathy, Anderson, Arnold,
Blythe, Griffin, Jameson, Moore, and Peterson. In reviewing this book,
Everton's Genealogical Helper says, "Of special note is the well-written
narrative history throughout the book which incorporates research findings
and conclusions for the fellow researcher to examine as well as
biograplhical and family material."
ok..I'm familiar with this Julia. She's not William A.'s mother. I'f I
recall, she went to Tenn. or somewhere west of here .
Thanks anyway.

Julia Ann Clayton she married Daniel Walker Pound in Stokes, NC in 1817.
She answered the 1850 census and said she was born in VA and was 49 years
old at the time.

Gosh I hoped I would see a Abner H.Clayton in that. Hewas my great grandfather, killed in a horserace dispute in Berryville ark in1869, Along with him was an Elisha Bobo and wounded was a Mr Fanning. I have a write
up from one of the papers from Fayetteville Democrat telling about it. But we don't know where he is buried--says at Berryville up on the Osage. Leota and thanks for these I will keep them for further use.

Hi Y'all,
I begin to feel like poor little Shirley Temple haunting hospitals
looking for her Daddy. Anytime anyone has a Clayton even close to the
right place and time there I am "Could you be a cousin?" Anyway, my Julia
Ann Clayton was born in VA in 1801. If she were an oldest child that's
plenty of time to have your William born in 1818. Julia married at age 16
on May 9, 1817 in Stokes, NC. So her family was there in 1818. I have no
more answers than that but I hope if I keep putting this out maybe I'll
give someone a clue that will finally net me Julia's family. I do not
believe in coincidence at that time period. People in the same place with
the same name are probably related. People were too thinly spread, even
on the coast.
Happy hunting and remember me if you find anything in VA.

Does any one have any information on the following:
Calvin Clayton, born in Texas, year unknown but would probably be middle 1800's. Calvin married Mattie Rivers, who was born in Morris County, Texas. They had a son named Clarence Calvin Clayton, born 1883 in Vanzandt County, Texas who was found in the 1910 Coleman County census with wife Verna Winfrey and 2 of the children. They then made their way to Shackelford County, Texas where my grandfather, WE Clayton was born in 1918 in Albany. They then came to Arkansas by 1920 where they are found in the 1920 Fulton County, AR census. I would like to know who Clarence Calvin Clayton's siblings are-I'm sure he had some! Also, any info on Calvin and Mattie as all I have are their names!
Thanks very much!
Rani Clayton Everett.
Hope this might help someone???

Just wondered if anyone out there in the Clayton family had seen the
pictures of Charles Collier Clayton and Eliza Berryman Richey in the
Tupelo, Miss Library? Someone who had been down there told me they
were there and I wondered how many of the Charles Collier Clayton family
knew of this. Leota
