Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb

This list is not monitored and I don't believe that is the
desire of the subscribers. On a monitored list, all messages
submitted to the list go first to the listowner for prior
approval then are sent to the list.
I don't have time to preapprove each and every message on the
list nor do I believe the subscribers want the time delay this
would involve.
Each of us are responsible for the messages we post.
If you do see someone who obviously does not know how to
unsubscribe from the list and is sending repeated requests
to the list to be unsubscribed, please send them a private
email and nicely let them know what the appropriate procedure is.
I'm sorry I was not available until very late last night to
read the list mail and this person just went on and on and on.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

Test messages should NOT be posted to the list.
Should you see one, PLEASE DO NOT respond to the list.
Use private email to let the poster know that their message
was seen on the list.
We don't need 500 subscribers replying to the list that the
message was seen. :-(

EVERYONE is not unsubscribing from the list. Just one fool
who doesn't know how to unsub from a list and keeps sending
UNSUBSCRIBE as a reply to each and every message he is
receiving from the list.
I've manually unsubscribed him and he is not welcome back
anytime soon. Sorry. :-(

looking for Lamar Clayton killed in Civil War, think he was on the northern
side, but have no proof for either side. Lived in Henderson and/or Hancock
counties in Illinois had a wife but we have no name for her. They had one
child George L. Clayton no birth dates for him either. I know this is
extremly vague, but its all we have to go on. If anyone has anything that
might show even the slightest connection , I would be forever grateful.
