I am looking for a john clayton that lived or visited Il. then moved to
OK/Akansas and finally moved to NM. He was a doctor.
I am guessing he was born around 1870-1875 and moved to New Mexico
around 1925. If anyone has any info on him I would greatly appreciate a
response.
Thanks

I recently recall that someone was asking about a site for period fashions.
I do not recall the exact dates they were interested in, but while searching
the net, I stumbled onto a clipart site that has extremely well done
selection of clipart including period clothing. Perhaps this site will
assist that person in determining a date of the photograph. Try

Mary,
There is a book called THE WIREGRASS OF GEORGIA, or some-
thing to that effect, that may have information that you are looking for.
I
understand that there are several Claytons mentioned in this book, and it
is about people living in southern GA, and a lot of these people did move
to
FL, and there are Claytons in this group.

Sandra,
It appears that there are several Charles Claytons down the line,
and yes, it can become confusing. The Charles Claytons in Columbia Co.,
GA are from a different family of Claytons, and they appear to name some
of their children with the name Charles. Some of these may have come out
of Franklin Co., GA, before 1800. I can't find all my notes at this
time. The
Charles that I was thinking about married Hannah Doggett in 1803 in
Columbia
Co., GA, and died there in 1811. Hannah lived on to November 1825.

Jo Ann,
I have just now gotten time to answer correctly on your supply of
information regarding Alfred T. Clayton and wife. Alfred T. and
Temperance
are buried in the Alfred Clayton Family Cemetery. I believe I understand
it
correctly, that the five children are buried in the Stephen Clayton
Family
Cemetery, all in Pickens Co., SC. A large number of the Claytons of the
William Clayton, Sr., family can be found in the cemetery surrveys of
Pickens
County, SC.
Thanks for the info. Joe Parker

Anetha-
I am not sure how much I can help with your geneology, but I am a Clayton
from Kansas! Wichita to be precise, although I live in Dallas now. My
parents live in Wichita still, but my Clayton line is mainly from Arkansas
and Mississippi. Interesting though because my grandmother lives in Howard,
KS (maternal side) and her name is Anita Hatfield. She has lived there most
of her life and although she is not a Clayton, she knows everything about
Howard. I can ask her about your ancestors and see what she knows.
Hopefully I could have been of some help.
