Hello, I am looking for any info or help in finding out about the family of
Elizabeth Clayton b. 1819 in Va. She married John Scott b. 1811 in Va.
They had a few children off hand I know that one was Caroline Odelia Scott
b. Dec. 10, 1853 in Smithfield, Isle of Wight Co., Va.
I will share all that I have on Caroline's family. Thanks, Kimberly in
South Fl.
Hi, Kendall & Webb & Clayton researchers--Ancestry posted today that
they offer free for 10 days a search of their database of 100 lineage
books of the National Society of the Daughters of the American
Revolution. I just visited it and found 412 "hits" on Kendall plus other
hits on Kendal, Kindel, etc.
I haven't tried it out yet for Webb, or Clayton, but I would guess
there are even more "hits" on Webb than on Kendall.
Give it a try at: http://www.ancestry.com/ancestry/search.asp scroll
down 'till you see the 3rd item of free database search, and use arrow
button to select the DAR db--at first it says 50 volumes, but when you
get to the db it says 100 volumes. Lots of free data for the
"clicking"...
Enjoy, and adios from Fred in Folsom CA
Hello again, Clayton Researchers--Please review the fwd'd info below I
obtained from fellow Kindel/Kindle researchers, Lionel & Dottie Lewis,
on Clayton Kindle.
Do any of you have any further info re a Clayton + Kindle connection?
Sure would appreciate any help or suggestions/comments that you may have
from your experience in Clayton searchin'.
And, are there any Clayton Family databases I can access? I'd like to
search for potential connections of Clayton/Kindle or Kindel or Kendall
however spelled.
Thanks a lot, and adios from Fred in Folsom CA
I found a Mary A. Clayton listed in the Records of the Moravians in N.C.
Vol..8 1823-1837. She was at Hope (Not sure if town or Church) Listed in the
minutes of the church "moved to us the widowed sister Elizabeth Smith and her
daughter Mary Ann Clayton, both communicants.
I hope this helps.

Hi, Rosemary & all--Thanks for your response, Rosemary. I made a print
of your msg and I'll be checking into your info as well as the other
info I have or may turn up. I will get back to you with a report whether
positive or negative on yours. Thanks again. I appreciate it. (And I see
you're located not too far from my previous life as a beach bum and
surfer (before surf boards!) at Santa Monica.) Fred in Folsom CA
Hi, Clayton Researchers--Does anyone know of info about a Clayton
marrying a Kindel (however spelled, eg, Kendall, Kindle, Kendel, etc.)?
I would surely appreciate any help you can provide here. Here is some
info on why I think there is such connection:
Another researcher just provided me this--From: "General Abstracts of
Revolutionary War Pension Files" Vol 2 F-M abstracted by Virgil D
White: "Kindle, Clayton or C. Kendel or Kindall S-33352, PA line, SEE
Clayton Kendal of Kindle, Wm. S-2705 VA line. Sol. lived in Culpeper,
VA and at Enl., appl. 5th day of September, 1832 Greene Co. TN age 72 on
9th April 1838. Sol. had moved to Perry Co TN to live with only son,
George Kindle."
The latter part of the above listing refers to a soldier I have quite a
bit of info on: Wm Kindle S-2705 VA line. But the first part, is new to
me re Clayton Kindle S-33352 PA line. I am just starting in to check up
on this, so only know the info above for now.
I believe I do have in my Kindel database (21,000+ now and growing),
someone named Clayton Kindle of NJ before the Rev. War who moved west.
I'll be checking up on this next. And I'll be checking with the National
Archives to get a copy of the pension file or whatever they may have on
Clayton Kindle S-33352 PA line.
I'll be glad to share whatever I have or whatever I may learn in this
new search with any Clayton researchers interested. Thanks a lot for any
help you might be able to provide. Adios from Fred in Folsom CA

Wow! Did my eyes bug out when I read your letter. My gg gf was
Samuel KENDELL Clayton. I've always wondered where his middle
name came from. I wonder if he could be connected to yours.
Dr. Samuel Kendell Clayton was born 15 Sept 1821-22 in TN. His
parents were Thomas Clayton and Susannah Bumpass of Person
Co., NC. They moved to Hardeman Co., TN about 1821-22.
I'm very interested in anything you might learn on this.

Hi Everyone,
I'm sorry for any mistakes in earlier broadcast messages. Here's a revised
message with more info.
I'm interested in the Clayton & Jackson families originating in Burnley,
Brierfield, Nelson (Harle Syke), Colne, Ramsbottom (all in Lancs. England).
Specifically Parliament Street and Stoney Street, Brierfield. Related
family names are Clewes, Naylor, Denson and Potts (all Lancs), Turton
(Doncaster) and Wilberforce (Humberside).
Several Jackson members (possibly also Clewes) emigrated to Australia in
1950's.
Part of the Clayton family moved to Bromborough (Birkenhead) Merseyside in
c.1937.

Several years ago I recorded the above info from somewhere.
For the son of Thomas b:1737 and Mary (Lockwood) Clayton I had William born
31 May 1781, at Catawissa, Reading, PA. Mary was the second wife of Thomas.
Thomas had the 6 daughters by his first wife between 1760 and 1770. I have
marriage dates of 1758 for 1st and 1778 for 2nd marriage.

Bob, I have no information on these two yet. I am going down to williamsport
this weekend and will see if I find anything. The family seems like they
all disappeared from the area, so it is possible. Lee Stradley
