I'm looking for the parents of the Elizabeth Clayton (b. 9 Dec 1792 in
NJ) who married Joseph Applegate 8 Nov 1818 in Monmouth Co NJ and
migrated to Shelby Co OH with him about 1835.
Raymond Bell's work on the Claytons doesn't mention her at all, and I
haven't been able to find reference to her in any Monmouth County wills.
It's possible that she was connected in some way to the Seventh-Day
Baptist congregation in the area, as some of them arrived in Shelby
County (via Harrison Co WV) at the same time. The family of William and
Margaret Fitz Randolph Clayton was in Shelby Co by 1837, but William and
Margaret were married too late to be Elizabeth's parents.
Does anybody have any information that might help me solve this mystery?
Thanks a bunch,
Nila
