Marlene,
There is little information in the Upton, MA records.
We know that Alexander announced intentions to marry RUTH Smith on 26 Dec 1741.
We know, also, that Alexander and SUSAN Smith had a child (Mary) on 26 Aug
1744. One of my family recalls reading that Alexander married three Smith
brides, in order: Ruth, Molly, then Susan.
The birth date of Jonathan, taken from records of Rev. War soldiers was
variously listed as 1745/6. I have found no proof that Jonathan was Alexander's
son. But there is much circumstantial evidence to support that liklihood..
