Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb

Our inbound mail server is down. This means ALL email bound for RootsWeb
address (mailing lists and staff) and USGenWeb addresses will (should) be
held at your ISP awaiting our server reappearing.
Our system administrators are working on the server, however, it is taking
its time recovering through disk checks. No accurate time of reappearance.
We apologize for the inconvenience.
Update
We are getting reports that people are getting Returned Mail bounces due to
unsuccessful delivery. If you have such a bounce, this is due to the short
time limitation that YOUR ISP has in queuing mail before giving up. Please
do not resend mail until after our server is up and operational, and you are
sure that delivery has failed. It may take up to 24 hours or so to get all
queued mail delivered.
