In February 2008, the Register of Wills, City Hall, Philadelphia announced that the letters of administration, dated September 24th 1784, and the administrator, David Chambers Claypoole's report(s) for the estate of James Claypoole, Sr. (1720/21-1784), were 'missing' from their archives.
In April 2008, Claypoole/Claypool researcher Ron Walker found an August 1st 1794 true copy of the original letters of administration was held at the Delaware Archives, in the New Castle County Will Index 1683-1920, Administration Index; Admin Book N, Vol. I, page 446. Bonnie Bergquist, also a Claypoole/Claypool researcher, obtained a photocopy of the 1794 "true copy" from Delaware, which has since been transcribed and added to Appendix 1, Timeline for James Claypoole, Sr. on www.claypoolefamily.com
