Hello,
My Claypool ancestor I would invite to Thanksgiving dinner would be Katherine
Claypool, b. 25 Sep 1779 Hampshire Co., (W)VA, d/o Jesse and Elizabeth
(Miller) Claypool, d. 1864 Decatur Co., IN. She was married to Elijah Ruben Smith,
Sr. 2 Apr 1799 Harrison Co., KY. I would ask her about her children, where
did they all move to, did she keep in touch with them, and where is her husband
buried?

Hello everyone,
I just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. I have found that several other lists are doing this so I thought it might be fun to do too. I would like everyone to say which Claypool ancestor they would invite to Thanksgiving dinner and what questions would you ask them. I'm working today, so I'll post mine tonight. Thanks and be safe!

NO trouble at all. I'm gathering any information on John and Ruth that I can get. I'm trying to work from John and Ruth backwards and forward . I believe their son, George, was the father of my grandfather, Andrew Burton Claypool, (1867-1948) of Vermilion Co Il.

I suspect he comes from Jesse Claypoole and Elizabeth
Miller, The above site should take you back to where
you want This should help some, Jesse had sons John &
Johnathan and records in KY need to be searched for
the connection. Check the previous mentioned counties
in KY or ILL and that might pinpoint John's father.

Now it's clear, I need the info, I wondered if it was Ruth Ann Wiggins, and about John's death date. I'll search for the info.
Since I didn't come from that line I didn't save much, and years ago I was sent a copy of a photo. I wondered looking at it, if it was the right people, he would be in his forties when he died, and this looks to be taken later with a younger couple.
But here is what is written .
John Claypool and Ruth Wiggen were m June 25 1829, in Nickolas CO, KY. Probably born in Harrison CO, KY Oct 1 1810. John and Ruth moved to Vermillon Co., ILL soon after 1850, he was engaged in sheep raising. He died in Vermillion CO., ILL on March 18 1856. Ruth was b Oct 11, 1811 in KY. After john died she married Robert Steen, June 30, 1859 in Vermillion CO., . She died July 24, 1876 in Vermillion CO., ILL.
They had ten children. Son John Henry born Nov 4 1846, d Dec 9, 1902, m Sarah Glenn. Maybe the pic is of them.
I am very behind in reading my mail...I noticed someone looking for Babcock
info. Mary J. Babcock, daughter of Eli and Lydia Babcock, is my great
grandmother. 1870 Census for Newago County, Michigan shows:
Eli 55
Lydia 50
Charles
Esther 15
Next door to them
Mary J.(Babcock) Smith
Harmond B. Smith
Edward H. 1 1/2
On another plot is listed two households:
Truman 30
Tella (wife) 26
Nella 7
Cyrus E. 6
Minnie 2
Taylor 22
Clarissa R. 18
Carrie B. 2
I do have 3 pictures of Mary J. ( Babcock) Smith

Some wonderful photos are found here
http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Flats/8702/clay02a.html
You will have to narrow it down. John's grandchildren are many, James (his son) had 13, Norton had 1/2 as many. It is Way to big to do. I will gladly help you and provide some info on your line if you can tell me who and want you want.
As for my entire gedcom I don't do that anymore, as many others have stopped. I did for awhile and found info that wasn't given credit to me for locating, and some was copyrighted and illegal to use online without permission from that person. But I do share info but not in the form I use for my records.
Sources include, Graff book, Bracken's books, Wills translated (not all) from London, PA Archives, DE histories, books on Cromwell, Mark Nobel's book, Northamptonshire histories, IGA, Hardy Co., info, VA state papers, James's Letter book, various bits sent to me. Some of the info can be found online. My line went into New Castle, into Hardy Co, WV and into OH. so I have that pretty complete. Also Sam Claypoole, will need to check his email address, has compiled a lengthy book available for purchase.
Just narrow down what you want and I'll see if its in my files.
