Hello Riley. Thanks for your help. I returned your call belately and your
must have been gone for the holiday, so left message. Would love to talk to
Margaret Willoughby, whose number is unlisted. If she reads this, please
call me, Margaret, 214-349-0807. Went to the Dallas Public Library today and
found the Claypool family books, Vol 4 and 5, which refer to the earlier
volumes. But would like to see if my Amanda is in them. There was one
Amanda, but the birthdate was 1858, whereas my Amanda was born about 1825 in
Kentucky, probably to John Claypole, and probably Warren County. She married
Marquis Marshall born 1821 in Ohio, and they were married in Brown County,
Ohio, 24 July 1844 (I have copy of marriage record).
]Am very frustrated that I cannot find any information other than this and
the census records of 1850 and 1860. I believe that they got a divorce after
1860. On my grandmother's death certificate Amanda is shown as Amanda
Pettyjohn. And my mother always referred to Marquis Marshall's wife as Belle
Townsley. Thanks again.
Ralph Livengood
Do you have the names of the Claypool books? I would like to try to
secure them through Interlibrary Loan. Thanks.
