Oh Joy! A relative! I am descended from Dyer Burgess Pettyjohn of Ohio. My grandfather migrated out West after the civil war. I am not surprized that Norton Claypoole was an "assumption". Do you have a lot of information on James and Mary Claypoole? Would it be possible to get family group sheets, pedigree charts, etc.? I would be happy to pay postage for snail mail. Thanks so much, Ann Pettijohn Tomlinson
PS This is the first really fruitful thing I've had happen since I joined Rootsweb.

William Pettyjohn

5. James Cleypol (Claypoole) b. 1532 Northa. md. Joan Henson b. 1540 Northa.
Does anyone know who Norton's wife Rachel R. was descended from? I found this line on the LDS International Genealogical Index, and according to the researchers who put it together, it goes back to King Edward II (Longshanks). Remember him in "Brave Heart"? Shucks - I liked Mel Gibson better! But the Encyclopedia says Edward II wasn't all that bad of a king.... Ann Pettijohn Tomlinson
With all the sophisticated avenues of research these days, it might be easier to uncover Rachel's roots. than it was a few years back....
Hi Sherranlynn,
Just read some of the information on the email, Sorry about the system
crash. Anyhow, after loking up some of the information in the "Genealogy
of the Claypoole Family of Philadelphia, 1588-1893" by Revecca Irwin
Graff,,I think there is some of the inforamation you are looking for.
John Claypooles seconf wife was Blance, widow of Launcelot Stabely, of
London. No mentin of her maiden name; It also states that John Claypool
died on June 26, 1688. It also states that Cromwell Claypoole wass buried
MAY 28, 1678, in Noroborough church. He was a bachelor. Henry , the second
sone, was in the army, prsuemed died before his brother Cromwell, since
there is no mention of him in Cromwell's will. Oliver, died a short time
before his mother. and Mary, his only daughter from that marriage, was
buried June 14, 1663.
His second family:
John, died young
Bridget, married June 4, 1697 to Aubury Price, a colonel in the Guards,
Died in October 1738, about 65 years old.
That is all I have on his family. The information is on pages 18 and 19 of
the Claypool volume. Hope this is of some help in reconstructing your data.
Barbara
