Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Are here any current DAR members out there who have used James Claypoole 1701
or James Claypoole 1730 as there Revolutionary ancestor?

Hi Don,
According to Mary's obituary she married Eli Foster on Aug. 1,1849. It
goes on to say they had 4 children but then names only three, Julana,
Catherine, and John. Only Catherine survived Mary and was listed as Mrs. W.
C. Johnson.
The township name was probably "Wauponsee" that's where the Claypool
homestead was.

Susie, and to think I go through Chehalis on my way to Oregon & California.
Also one of my daughter's goes to Chehalis 2 or 3 times a year (maybe a
month) on business. She's a Bakery Sales Technician for Pillsbury through
their recently acquired merger of Hazelwood Farms Bakeries. Of course I
don't know the stores she services down there.
But good to hear you are nearby. Maybe sometime we "Pacific Northwest
descendants" can get together and "pool" our notes.

Mary married Harmonius Alkire and Elizabeth married William Nave Alkire.
Ruth was born in July 1766 and died in 1850 in Fountain Co. Indiana. I also
have that her and Robert Denton were divorced but don't have more. These are
my lines too. I come through Elizabeth Denton and have been looking for more
on Ruth and Robert's time in Indiana. Does anyone have a death date on
Robert Denton or where to look for their time in Indiana? Sally

I know what you mean <grin>
Although I have been to Utah (SLC) for a week each year since 1985 except the past
3 years and I love SLC there is no place like "Tacoma" (home sweet home). I lived
in Illinois from 1935-1940 and in California 1960-1962 where my youngest daughter
was born but all other time in Washington but always came "home to Tacoma, the
place where I was born".

Thanks Don, Haven't communicated with you in quite some time!! Research is
coming along well and I will have a couple things to share with you shortly.
Will e-mail you.
The Dar has those books you mentioned and a few more. I searched their
library yesturday. The also offer the works of Rebecca Irwin Graf- Genealogy
of the Claypoole Family of Philadelphia; James Claypoole's Letterbook; The
Descendants of James Claypool by Evelyn Claypool-Bracken.
By the way, does anyone know how to determine what the "Patriotic Service" of
an individual was? Both James Claypoole 1701 and James Claypoole 1730 are
listed in the DAR index for Patriotic Service. I have heard that James
Senior was a medic of sorts and James Jr. was chief commisary to George
Washington. Any body have the real scoop?
Gloria Claypool-Kirin
www.geocities.com/heartland/trail/5656/index.html
Gloria - my understanding at the time I did mine, was that for every date you
have you must have a document of proof of time/date/etc. If you put ca they
let you get by with that as long as you have something to prove the tie-in.
Like a census record listing the person as a child in the family will serve
since I had a marriage record to substantiate the name -- of the "child" for
tie-in -- so if you have any document - marriage, birth, death, to tie-in for
the next generation. Wills prove the person was a son/dau of - marriage
indicates spouse surname -
I'm sure others can explain this so much better than I. Start with you and
follow through - I had my birth, my marriage, birth indicated parents, parents
marriage, etc all the way back to the one you are going in on. If you find
someone under same line you just have to prove the relationship between and up
through you and that person
Some earlier ones weren't that well documented and it states if you are going
in through that particular one you must show proof. More fun huh!!

Since when did a will need to be certified for DAR? That is the reason I have
my copy of the James Claypoole Will as I was going to go in under both James Jr
& James Sr - both as supplementals though - but you have to have the information
for each one submitted. As long as the person/s tie in from one document to
another for proof was all that I needed and this was probably '90 or '91 when I
submitted mine under Absalom Littell. I am a member of the DAR through
Absalom Littell a.k.a. Little. I have photocopies made of 8 sets of ancestors
and have to fill out the paperwork and listing of same on the back page and
seems like I never get around to it. And the sad part is they are in file
folders right next to this computer. I just did several supplementals for my
Hoosier Ancestry and a few more to go.
But if they need to be certified then I best check into that also. Keep us
updated on this. Since I've retired and had the care of a couple grandchildren
off and on the past 3 years plus now with my daughter & her son living with us I
don't get to the meetings any more. Must make a point of attending at least
one.

I could be wrong. I will look at my membership application and get back to

Now that takes care of that one, and will follow up on it. Will just have to
find someone in that area to check it out as I have written there many a time to
no avail.
Now to my question as to whether one of them is the one on my website or not
needs to be answered so that I don't order the same one twice <grin>.
Thank you Barbara.
