Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Dear Marilyn,
I don't have the information you are looking for. But, I do have a copy
of a certificate granted by the federal govt. to Wilson Claypool conveying
to him 132 acres in "section four of township five of range eight east in
the district of Piqua and the state of Ohio" in 1824. It came from the
Bureau of Land Patents and is accessable by internet. They evidently have
comverted their files to computer images. I will send to you if you are
interested.

Seeking descendants (not ancestors) of Wilson and Abel Claypool [brothers?].
Wilson Claypool was b. 1799 in Randolph Co. VA; migrated to Ross Co. OH; and
in 1822 bought land in Montgomery Co. IN; ended up in Fountain Co. IN where
he d. in 1878. Abel Claypool was b. 1801 in Ross Co. OH; migrated to Shawnee
Twp., Fountain Co. IN in 1824. Both Wilson and Abel buried in the Union
Christian Church Cemetery in Fountain Co.
I believe one of these men was probably the grandfather of Andrew J.
Claypoole, who in 1887 married my great-great aunt Amanda Jane "Jennie"
Kunkel in Fountain Co. IN. Jennie and Andrew disappeared from the area after
1889. Where did they go? Can someone help me find my missing aunt?
Dear Venessa,
Thanks very much for your suggestion. I'll check it out as soon as I can
(and let you know how I get on). I think my best hope of proving the
link is to look for Claypole/Claypool wills at this time and hope
relatives in Whittlesey are mentioned! Finding six counties within ten
miles of Northborough will not make this easy!
Best wishes,
Richard.

Thanks Barbara. Guess I'll have to post to Most Wanted Books again <grin>
I get several of various catalogs and will start checking there also. Right now
I'm trying to get the Lyman Chalkley's 3-volume set of the Scotch-Irish
Settlement, it's been out of print and don't know if it is available yet.

Which book was written in 1893. I have been trying for a few years to get the
Claypoole volumes and so far have succeeded in purchasing Vol II Rev only. I
would definitely like to know more about this 1893 book and also if anyone knows
whether the other volumes are in reprint? or if there might be a possibility of
them being reprinted.
I will try to get time to go through Vol II Rev and see if any sibling line is
carried down to as close to present time and the possibility of anyone knowing
of any dates for the marriage of Jacob & Mary.
Will await your reply most anxiously.

Hi,
The book I was referring to is "Genealogy of the Claypoole Family of
Philadelphia"- 1588-1893. The author was Rebecca Irwin Graff. Published in
Philadekphia in 1893. I ordered this photo copy print from one of the book
store, probably Higginsons, It has quite a bit, but I am sure it is far
from complete, it is interesting, includes some pictures of some related
families, and quite a bit about letters back and forth to England. I am
also trying to find more books regarding the Claypooles and the Dentons.
Just getting started.

Hi
I put a copy of James Sr's will on the Hardy Co genweb page. He lists his
daughter as Mary Smith, and the will was witnessed by the Dentons, including a
Mary Denton. Perhaps Mary Claypool Smith (husband Will) married Jacob Jr at a
later date. James, Jr had a daughter Ruth who married Robert Denton, I dont have
the date. This info may be found in the Vol II, of Claypools in America which I
don't own.

Hi,
Just saw the message below. I am looking for Claypooles also. I need to
disable something or other on my explorer before I can join the message
line. I have the book on The Claypooles, written in 1893. The information
I can see regarding John Claypool and Marie/Mary Angell is that they had 14
children, including John Claypool, who married Elizabeth Cromwell. (married
in 1645/5) Elizabeth died in 1658. He then married Blanche, widow of
Launcelot Stavely. It states that John Claypoole and Elizabeth Cromwell
had three sons and a daughter. Cromwell,Henry, Oliver and and a daughter
Martha. Hope this is helpful. I am still looking for records of the
marriage to Jacob Denton to Mary Claypool in 1758 or 1759. Do you have any
clues there . Any leads are appreciated.

I know their children did not live long enough to have children of their own. Off
hand I don't have their death dates. He had children by his second wife, John,
Bridget, Ann, and Elizabeth, believe he remarried around 1670.

Was it (Sir) John of Northborough & wife Marie/Mary nee Angell who had a son
John & his wife was Elizabeth nee Cromwell. I have no children input for them
(at least as of now) but they may be a bit too old to have had 3 children in
the time frame mentioned. Although I have no actual dates for John &
Elizabeth input either. What I have can be checked out under my Wilcox/Sinex
genealogy data base on my home page shown below. This is what I had left
after a "crash" in February 1998. Am trying to get everything back up but
takes time.

I came across a Visitation for a John Claypole of Northborough married to
Elizabeth, they were 'breeding' at the right time for your man and in the
right part of the country.
They were only listed as having 3 daughters, but the Visitation could have
taken place before the birth of a son, who would probably have been named
for his father John.
The 3 kids listed were:
Bridget baptised at Deeping St. James 20 Apr 1674
Anne baptised at Braceborough 25 May 1679
Elizabeth baptised at Braceborough 12 Feb 1681/2

Hello everyone,
CLAYPOLE of Whittlesey in Cambridgeshire.
I'm a descendant of John Claypole who was married in 1714 in Whittlesey
in Cambridgeshire, but was not baptised there. Whittlesey is about ten
miles away from Northborough in Northamptonshire. While nothing is
certain, it seems highly likely that John is related to the Northborough
Claypool/Claypole family.
I've been looking for the connection for a long time without any luck.
If anyone knows of a stray John Claypole/Claypool who might fit I'd be
very grateful to know!!
Best wishes for 1999.
Richard Lyne (in Trinidad).
