Hi Julie
So far I have found a family from Littlebury in Essex that are connected
to the Cambridge area but not you family as yet!
They were from Castle Cambs and Shudy Cambs. I will keep an eye out for
you as I am sure there are many more from the Cambridge area.

PS - sorry to hear about Ilford. I associated it with a brand of film that competed
with Kodak. Maybe the two are not associated or that Rochester, NY is a nasty
place also.

Hi Annemarie,
Funny you should mention Claydons and Essex.
Arthur and Elizabeth Claydon immigrated to the Lethbridge
area from Ilford, Esses in 1902. There is a very nice 1 page
biography on Our Roots http://www.ourroots.ca/e.
While it is unlikely they are "My Claydons", my interest leans
more toward history and the article adds flavor to an area
I have not yet visited.
Please let me know if I can be of assistance locating the
article. The site has other Claydon items.

Subject: [CLAYDON] Alfred John Claydon
Hi,
I am looking for my grandfather, who died a few months before I was
born.
Below is a summary of what I have been able to find.
Thanks,
Ray Owens
Alfred John Claydon 1881 - March 1947 (Buried in Mt. View Cemetery
Vancouver B.C.)
Parents:
Thomas Claydon
Mary Hadnutt
Siblings:
Alice Claydon (1886 - 1964) husband Horace Legge
Elizabeth husband Mr. Enes
Jane husband Mr. Benson - residing in London in 1947
Alice, Alfred and Elizabeth immigrated from London area to
Lethbridge, Alberta prior to 1910.
Alfred was a cook on a steamship working the Columbia and Snake
rivers in 1910. Married my grandmother in 1912 and divorced in 1916,
both in Portland Oregon where Alfred worked as a cook.
He joined the C.E.F. in April 1918 and served in France in the
engineer corps. He settled in Vancover B.C. and married Edith Ray and
they had two daughters from this marriage.
