Did both Henry Clay (1672-1760)[m. Mary Mitchell] and his brother,
Thomas (c1670-a1726) have daughters named Amey?
I have seen documents that says Thomas's daughter Amey was born ca 9
Mar 1720 in Prince George County, Virgina, and died before 1726.
I also have seen records that say Henry's daughter, Amey was born ca
9 Mar 1720 in Prince George, Virginia, but that she lived to marry
(1) William Greeen (by whom she had children) and (2) Benjamin Wiliamson.
While daughters born to brothers on the same (or close) dates in the
same locality and given the same name is possible, I suspect one is
wrong. And I suspect that Thomas did not have the daughter named Amey.
Am I right?

Using the "unique identifiers" and information from _Adventurers of Purse
and Person_ (
I have Amey Clay (27) , b c 1715 dau of Henry Clay (08) and Mary Mitchell, m
William Green and m2 Benjamin Williamson
Her dau with Wm Green, also Amey (108), m Edward Moseley, (207)
Amy Clay (22a [PP has two #s 22), b c 1720, dau of Thomas Clay (07) m ??
Munns.
The answer to your question, of course, lies in the origin of the
information. PP has, for Amy (27), a will, 28 Mar 1749, in which Henry (08)
named his wife and children. (His son, William, also has the identifier of
#22)
For Amey (22a), Thomas' will, dated 16 Jun 1726-8 Nov 1726, named his
children and designated his brother, Henry (08) as executor. Thomas (07)
was in Prince George County, on "Namozine" Creek (various spellings,
including Nummisseen).
On that creek, I have property patents for James (17) and Thomas (07) --
three patents for Thomas. Henry I associate more with Swift Creek, or the
several patents on the Appomattox. (work needs be done here to see just
which of the Henry's are where)
Robert Young Clay, who produced this genealogy for P&P, does not give dates
of birth for either of these girls. I would question if someone(s) found the
date and paid no attention to the parents.
Since both girls appear (I haven't read the wills) to be listed in their
father's wills, I would say they both existed, but the birthdate applies to
one, maybe. Or, maybe to neither. Have to find the source for the date.
BTW, are you interested in the Clays as a family member?
