I have not seen anything June has -- but Gynger Cook may have something.
She is at
_OXQZEME688(a)aol.com_ (mailto:OXQZEME688@aol.com)
I don't know how much of this June researched herself, and how much she
gathered from others.
If I find anything, I'll let you know.

Subject: Re: [CLAY] CLAY Line, undocumented
Hi Pat. The rootsweb's link's line is documented from Faye to James
(Faye's Great Great Grandfather) with Census records. John, the immigrant, of
course had a son Charles and it is documented (on the link) Charles and Hanna
had a son Charles (On 1 October 1687 Hannah Clay made a deed of gift of
cattle and personality to "John Clay, Thomas Clay, Henry Clay and Charles
Clay, my sonnes" and to "my daughter Judith." ). In the rootsweb's link below
there is no documentation however to link this Charles to a son Thomas and
Thomas to a son Caleb and Caleb to a son Solomon and Solomon to a son
James.
I hardly spent any time yet looking for these connections (as I was just
contacted by a Granddaughter of Faye a few days ago on this request - email
copied to her on this reply to the list) and was hoping someone on the
CLAY list had the same line already documented. It's possible the connections
are online and are surely in someone's research somewhere (if this line is
valid). I can also look at LVA when I go in June if I don't find the line
before I visit there.
I will do some searching online when I have time if no one responds (do
you have June's email to see what documentation she has?).
Thanks, Cousin Tim

Not even looking at Faye Sula going back to Caleb, June Shaputis has a
tree
that shows Hannah and Charles had a son Charles, b ca 1684, who married
Sarah (Clements?) and had several children, one of whom was Thomas (b ca
1745).
Other sources have that this Thomas had a son Thomas who married Anna
Powell. Thomas and Anna had sons James (1769)m Mary Carrothers and William
(1790)m Judith Smart.
You can see there are some serious date or generation problems here. I
don't
know what the sources were for June's information, nor for the others who
have this line. I note that on this Rootsweb tree, the author is descended
from Henry (son of Charles and Hannah), not from his brother Charles. So,
this isn't his direct line.
However, two of the people with a similar line are members of the Clay
Family Society, so I will remain interested in what we find out here.
Pat

Here is an undocumented CLAY line on rootsweb (what else is new - LOL). I
an
trying to help a CLAY Cousin who's Grandmother was Faye Sula CLAY. Does
anyone on the list have documentation for this unsupported line to the
original Immigrant (John CLAY, not Captain)?
