Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Hi Clay List:
I wouldn't ordinarily get on here and put in a plug for a movie but in this
case I just have to. In my opinion it does tie in to our Clay
family genealogy because it helps to show the history / environment /culture
clashing, etc., of the area of Virginia that John Clay first came to. Most
of us descend from John Clay. The movie is "The New World" and was a 2005
romantic historical drama film written and directed by Terrence Malick. It
is a historical adventure depicting the founding of the Jamestown, Virginia
settlement and inspired by the historical figures Capt. John Smith and
Pocahontas. It also has Samuel Argall and the ship Treasurer. Perhaps many
of you have seen the movie before. It has been out for many years, but I
was unaware of it until my husband happened to record it on our TV and we
watched it last night. I think the release was tied to the publicity
surrounding the 400th anniversary. Read more about it on Wikipedia. Read
about the filming locations in Virginia not far from site of historic
events, and in London . Read about the historical accuracy. I guess it was
a box office disappointment, but I enjoyed it. Watch it - and try and
picture John Clay on the ship with Argall, in Jamestown, fighting the
indians, watching the wedding of John Rolfe and Pocahontas, etc.
Janis
Thanks for the information. I was one of those who had it wrong in my tree.
