Subject: CLAY FAMILY FROM INDIA
Hi Alistair,
Just came across your entry on the CLAY mailing list. I would love to know if we connect as my husbands great grandfather went over to India in 1879 and his son (our grandfather William George Richard CLAY was born in 1880).
The gt grandfathers name was George Richard Hector Mettham CLAY and he married Annie PHILLIPS in Falmouth Cornwall in 1879 just before they left for India.
I have got quite a lot on this branch of the CLAY's and would love to see if there is a link as we have not been in touch with our CLAY family at all since the India days.
Please make contact.
Regards,
Glynis MILLETT-CLAY S

Subject: [CLAY] Seeking wife and daughter of Brig-Gen Bertie Gordon Clay DSOb. 1875
Hello,
I hope someone can help me. I have hit a brick wall regarding the wife of Brigadier-General Bertie Gordon Clay DSO who was born in 1875 in India and died in 1937.
He married someone called Millicent Jane but I would really like to know her maiden name and when and where the marriage took place. Her first names are mentioned in an unrelated item in The Times of 9th June, 1926. She died in 1949.
They had a daughter who was alive in 1952 when she inserted a Memorial Notice to her late parents in The Times. I wish I knew her name and details too.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Alistair
