Hi;
Iam looking for anything anyone got on the Archie Clay and Birdy [Moses] Clay family. I think that Charles Clay is by grandfather. But I know him as Harry James Gibbs Born Aug 10,1904 in Grand Rapids,Michigan. My grandfather said he ran away from home at the age of 14yrs. After his mom died in child birth which would been about 1918.Have been trying to to have the Gibbs line all these years. He must have change his name for some reason. I know he keep in touch with one of his sisters for awhile. She later moved to Ill. and got married. Then they moved to Washington State and he lost in touch with her. So if anyone could help me. I have goten a lot of help from the Moses family line. Thanks for all the help.

Gloria,
Obediah was a son of William Mitchell Clay and the
grandson of Henry Clay (1672-1760) of Henrico Co, Va.
Obediah had three surviving sons (Levi, Olive &
Thomas) and one daughter (Polly). Obediah's wife was
Mary Chappell. The Chappells were I think a fairly
well known early settler family of Virginia.
I never heard Henry called an Indian trader, although
he may have done some trading of some sort. Mostly
they were farmers, of tobacco and other crops.
I am descended from Levi, but I know of no American
indian ancestry.
Hope this helps,
Jaquelin Clay Fisher
