Hi I'm researching Clays from Alton and Rocester staffs I can't find marriage of Samuel Clay b.1830 in Alton his partner was Elizabeth Gibbs born c.1834 Leicester. There doesn't seem to be records on BMD.They lived in Rocester in the 1850's I presume as they had children born and christened there but moved to Lancashire in the 1860's .I would be grateful if sks can help me out on this.Jess

Hi ,I'm new to this site but not to other sites,Alton is in Staffordshire England and I am tracing the Clay family from the Alton /Rocester areas .I have Thomas Clay married to Prudence Ratcliffe 14/8/1787 in Alton Staffs who had a large family,10 children that I have found so far.One of their children William married Elizabeth Nash 4/7/1815 in Rocester ,This is my direct line and I am trying to find their son Samuels marriage to Elizabeth Gibbs. She was born in Leicester c.1834 but so far I can't find either her birth or their marriage.I have tried BMD sites 1837/Geneologists and several other sites but no luck.Just wondered if anyone else is searching this family and if they had found the same problem.Jess
