If anyone is associated - please let me know! The way this is to be read is
as follows: I. Michael Clay was my Great, Great, Great Grandfather who
married Christine (sp?). They had a son, John Henry Clay, who was my Great,
Great Grandfather who was born in Lebanon, PA. He married Martha Cora Morris.
Cora, who was my Great Grandmother, married Thomas Nicholas Via of VA. John
Henry Clay had moved from PA to VA when he married Martha in 1898. Thanks for
the interest. PS - there is family lore that we are related to Senator
Henry Clay of KY as well...

Hi,
There is a book "Voices from the Century Before-The
Oddyssey of a 19th Century Kentucky Family" Written by
Mary Clay Berry, Arcade Publishing, New York, 1997.
It has 505 pages of letters written by the Brutus J.
Clay Family and the Ezekiel Henry Field Family. There
is a chart of the Green Clay/Sally Lewis branch of the
Clay's. Found it at my local library in Ohio. Very
interesting reading...Patti, defining
genealogy--Connecting the world, one family/friend at
a time,

Frances Roberts b.1777 was the dau. of Reuben Roberts. In 1797 they lived in
Montgomery Co. of Old Virginia on land along the New River adjacent to
Mitchell Clay Sr. This area became Tazewell County in 1800 and in 1806 it
became Giles County. Family history says that the son of Frances, Saint
Clair Roberts b. abt. 1798 was fathered by someone named Clay whose wife was
named Ira. My guess is that the father was Charles L. Clay b. 1774, son of
Mitchell Clay Sr., because Charles’ wife was Ora Stewart and because his age
was right. Do any of you researchers know how I can find out more about
this?
