I am looking for the proverbial needle in the haystack. I have a James Clay
or Clavell Jones born 1876 in North Carolina. Both parents are born in
North Carolina. I am hoping that the CLAY was his mother's surname. Does
anyone have a Clay who married a Jones say about 1850 give or take a few years?

Happy New Year!
I noticed in some of the recent Mitchell Clay family doesn't include my ancestor Obedience Clay b. 1768 in Bedford, VA which is another daughter that marries John French in Montgomery Co. VA 16 Jan 1787. I have a copy of Mitchell Clay's will that mentions "dearly beloved daughter Obidence French one dollar ..." I'm working trying to join the DAR on Anne French which is John and Obidence's daughter.
Giles Co., VA has a wealth of information on these families as well a a statue of Mitchell and Obidence Clay in front of the Courthouse. Three or four of their children were killed by indians.

William Clay who married Rebecca Cecil did in fact have a daughter named
Rebecca. She married Philip Fannin in Lawrence Co., KY They moved to Daviess Co.,
