Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Please note that the Clay DNA Study is up and running. All Clay males are
invited to participate. The Clay Family Society voted to start this study
as a tool to trace our family roots in England. We also hope that the
study will help define the lines of the various Clays who descend from
John Clay the Grenadier. We are encouraging all participants to choose the
Y-DNA25 Male 25 Marker paternal test. The cost of this test is $169.00
which is the group rate. This 25-marker test will be of greater use to the
Clay study. Please email (hatch(a)netdoor.com) your Clay lineage as far back
as you have researched. If you are interested in participating in this
study, please email me directly and then use the provided link.
Thank you,
Greg Hatcher
Group Administrator

Hoping everyone had a nice fourth of July.
I need to make one more change in the note that I posted on Thursday
regarding membership in the Clay Family Society.
Those dues go from Gathering to Gathering. So if you pay NOW you won't owe
again until June 2006.
Again for those who missed it...

Group,
Wondering if anyone knows anything about my relative: John Henry Clay.
John Henry Clay - born 1838
Married my GG-Grandmother, Martha "Mattie" C. Morris in February 1898 at 60
years of age in Lynchburg, VA. The parents of John were "Michael & Christina
Clay" - information on them unknown. I do know that he was originally from
Lebanon CO., PA. Help?

We had several inquiries after the last note I posted regarding membership
in the Clay Family Society, so I thought I would also post my response to
those parties to the list for anyone else who might be interested. I will
be out of town for a few days but I will answer any questions when I return.
**********************************
The Society has been in operation for three years. We have a board of
directors and a gathering every two years in a different location. We have
speakers, activities and social time. Our next gathering will be in
Chesterfield County, Virginia in 2006.
Our dues are $30 a year for a single or $35 for a family. Spouses are
welcome at the gatherings. We do have a newsletter which is included in your
dues.
You can send your membership to:
Constance Collins
Apt. 408
3800 Fairfax Drive
Arlington, VA 22203
She will need name, address, phone, email address if available and whether
you want a family or single membership. If you are willing to serve in any
capacity make note of that as well. Also if you wish to be in the
membership directory or not. Also a short statement of your CLAY lineage.
If you want to be listed in the membership directory you can also include a
small photo (not returnable).
I am leaving town in a few hours for the weekend but if you have any further
questions I can respond when I return.
We have a great time at the gatherings! Welcome aboard!
Karen

Those of you who are members of the Clay Family Society please send your
name, address, phone number if you want and a small photograph (will not be
returned) for publication in the membership directory for the Clay Family
Society.
This past weekend at the gathering we had someone offer to put this
together, so we need to get the pictures and information in to Linda Pittano
asap. If you are not a member you can send a check for your membership
dues and the information to Linda Pittano. If you do not have her mailing
address, drop me a note and I'll give it to you.
It was so good to see all the Clay cousins at the Gathering this past
weekend, it felt like coming home seeing all those familiar faces. Can't
wait for the next gathering in 2006!
We are already working on the next issue of Pieces of Clay which will be out
in September! We need the information on new grandbabies, passing of loved
ones, and marriages of Clay cousins for inclusion in the newsletter as well.
You can send those along to me -
Karen Krugman
1572 Bennaville Ave.
Birmingham, Mi 48009
Please do not send membership papers to this address.
Congratulations again to Virginia Rahal who won the beautiful quilt in the
raffle at the gathering!
