> This message is to inform you that we have received the proposed itinerary from the tour company for the England trip and it looks terrific!!! The tour will be 10 days with an option for those who wish to stay longer on their own. The dates will be chosen from the last week in September through the second week in October. We will have a motor coach, which will meet us upon arrival at Manchester Airport and stay with us the entire time until we depart London Airport. The areas we plan to visit have Clay connections in the northern and southern part of the country. This will include, in the Derbyshire area; Chesterfield, Crich, Clay Cross, Hardwick Hall, Chatsworth House, Haddon House, Newark, North Wingfield, Hucknall and Nottingham. We will have the privilege and honor of a personal guided tour of the Derbyshire area by David Clay from Mansfield, England. He is working to arrange for a lecture from a local Clay historian from the region. On the way traveling south!
, we may visit Althorp (home of HRH Princess Diana) and Windsor Castle. We'll spend a wonderful day in Kent at the fabulous Leeds Castle; visit the East Sutton Church, which was the home of the Filmer (Clay) and Argall families and then two days of touring London. There will be other areas of interest that we may also see in both areas. > Those wishing to stay longer will be able to use the same airline ticket to fly home. Those arrangements must be made ahead of time with the tour company. > To get the best deal, the agency is requesting we have 30 to 40 people and will not take a group of less than 20. The tentative price is about $1,800.00 to 2,500.00. Obviously the more persons that go the cheaper the rates will be. > To enable us to proceed, we absolutely MUST know how many are interested in going by Feb 12, 2003. There cannot be any further delay as we are running out of time for booking. Once we confirm that we have enough people !
attending, we will make the necessary deposit. This will enable the plans to be booked by the British agency in England. After the plans are confirmed, there will be a $400.00 deposit per person required and sent to the tour company here in the USA. Please contact Nancy Greathouse at her e-mail JNTGREATHO(a)aol.com or phone 330-659-2215 after 7pm and let her know if you are planning to go or if you'd like more information. A complete itinerary will be sent once we know you are going. Thank you > and we look forward to hearing from you soon. > > Sincerely, > > Clay Family Society, > Board of Directors
