Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb

I AM APPALLED AT THIS RULING!!!! WHY do we have to outlaw everything
mentioning God from everything in this country, just because someone is
offended. I am offended that these rulings are being made. I heard this
news today also, and hope and pray it is overturned. I thought we had
FREEDOM of religion, and belief not freedom from it. No one has to say the
Pledge if they don't want to, they should leave the rest of us alone.

I'm sorry that I accidentally sent that message to the list. It wasn't my
intention, but I was so angry, that I must have hit all my e-mail addresses.
I know the list isn't supposed to be used for personal or political
comments. I hope I didn't offend anyone. It won't happen again. Diane

The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals is located in Californina, and yes it did
rule that the pledge is unconstitutional today. But the U.S. Senate quickly
passed a resolution supporting the pledge. This ruling is already under
appeal and will undoubtly be heard by the Supreme Court. It will be very
interesting to hear their decision.
I am in CA and everyone interviewed on the news is very upset over this
decision and are vowing to support the appeal in every way.

I just heard on the radio that it is now unconstitutional to say the pledge
of allegiance in our public schools. The 9th circuit court of appeals is
on a tear. I don't have any more details, but I guess you can find out for
yourself on the news. If this is where we're headed, we're in big trouble.

Diane,
Do you mind telling me what information the book refills on Clay Farley.
Thank you very much for your reply.

Please, Please, Please, be careful what you find in the book. It is
undocumented and has the old unproven stories of John Clay. Use it as a
reference only, to be documented on your own. Good for the history of the
area, not for genealogy.

Help, Clay researchers:
After some years, still seeking family connections for Percibal (spelled
variously) Clay, born before 1740, probably in VA, a blacksmith, who spent
some time in NC (various property transactions dating from 1750s). He was in
the Duplin/Sampson County, NC, area in the 1780s and early 1790s, before a
move to GA. He may be related to a Sarah Clay who married Henry Holland in
1783 in Duplin Co., NC; both Hollands and Clays subsequently moved to GA, and
Percibal Clay supported Henry Holland's application for a Rev. War Pension.
Any clues appreciated.

Good afternoon everyone.
I wanted to give everyone that is attending the event a short update
regarding the agenda.
We will start registrations on Friday around 8:00am, opening remarks at
8:45am and the first speaker will be at 9:00. We will have 7 speakers on
Friday and our first speaker on Saturday will be at 1pm (after returning to
the hotel for our luncheon from the Henry Clay Dedication Ceremony at noon).
We will break at 5pm on Saturday for dinner and then return at 7:00pm for the
evening social gathering and hors d'oeuvre buffet until midnight. We will
depart for the group tour at White Hall at 9:15am, have luncheon there at
noon and leave by 1:30 to return to Ashland by 2:30. We will tour there and
they will stay opened after hours if need be for our group. Hope this brief
agenda helps. Look forward to seeing you all in Lexington. If you have any
questions about the gathering please let us know. Thanks.

Sir John Clay - Mary Carlton - please check the research of Robert Clay
in which he could find no connection to this man and the Clay's of this
country.
John Thomas Clay - Ann Nichols - The 'Thomas' as a middle name comes
from a misreading of an old document in which a 'T' seems to appear
between John and Clay. The 'Thomas' was a guess. Middle names were
very rare in that day and age. Also, the maiden name of Ann is unknown.
Nichols was the surname of their servant.
Charles Clay - Hannah Wilson - Charles was the son of John Clay, the
immigrant and his second wife Elizabeth (Frame?) as proven by several
court documents.
Henry Clay - Mary Mitchell
Henry Clay - Lucy Greene - Green is usually spelled without the final
'e'.
The line:
1. John Clay m. (1) Ann (2) Elizabeth (Frame?)
2. Charles Clay, son of John and Elizabeth, m. Hannah Wilson
3. Henry Clay m. Mary Mitchell
4. Henry Clay m. Lucy Green
Mary Anne Rick
Does anyone have a death date for William Wiley Clay, Sr., son of Samuel
Clay and Tabitha Clay? I have 1885 in Mississippi
but have no more specific information than that. Does anyone have
burial information on him?
Thank you so much,
Renée Rogers Clay
New Orleans, LA

I was researching another family, and I ran across many CLAYS in Stark Co.
Ohio in the 1830 and 1840 census. Don't know who they belong to, but I
figured someone might be hunting them.
